Crainiotomy recovery

I had surgery 4 weeks ago to remove a meningioma from behind my ear. I'm struggling massively some days with dizziness and fatigue and other days I feel I'm getting a little better. Just wanting to know how long recovery takes, as whenever I ask a medical professional they are vague, unhelpful and don't answer the question. I'm a 40 year old mum to a toddler. I just want to get back to being a mum to my little girl. No one was honest with me as to what 'recovery' would entail. I'm going nuts and evey time family ask how I am I just want to scream, I feel like shit and they all keep saying maybe tomorrow it'll be better!

Good Morning, I can fully understand your frustration and wanting your life to go back to normal especially when you have a little one to look after. I had surgery 8 weeks ago and this last week has been my best but today I feel washed out. (I have been told my recovery would be 8-12 weeks) I think the consultants etc give you just a rough idea of recovery because we all recover differently. And again they don’t all give you the basics of the aches, strangle feels you get in your head/face etc. But we need to take small steps to recover and hopefully the worst is over and we will all be on to better things .

Take care of yourself and listen to your body 😊
