Are people in supported living going to be safe from government benefit changes?

I’m not aware of any changes that would affect you have a look at the Turn2us website. They have a timetable of the planned changes.
I agree that the information we are seeing in the news is very worrying. Firstly there are the suggestions that PIP could be changed fundamentally, although initiated by the previous government it now seems that the current government are looking at something similar. In addition we keep hearing that everyone will be expected to actively seek work and that the current ‘support group’ category may be removed or there could be changes to eligibility which may affect those currently in this group. Many people in supported living will still be receiving ESA supplemented by the Severe Disablement supplement, and they are going to have to migrate to UC which is less generous. All these proposed changes are to reduce the benefits bill so of course those with disabilities, whether or not in supported living, are going to be anxious about how much income they could lose. There is a lot of fear and uncertainty about all this and it is difficult to know where to get any meaningful information/advice. Perhaps there are local agencies, eg carers support groups, which might know more.
As spring approaches, I anticipate more information about my hospital appointments and the transition to UC. I'm feeling anxious about this, but I'm also preparing myself for any potential outcomes, whether I'm eligible or not.
