LD and autism

Good afternoon, my 24 year old daughter has a LD and Autism (only got communication disorder from autism assessment, even though obvious autism). She has had a EHCP since year 5 at school and went to special needs school (secondary). She was in supported living but safeguarding was opened and they moved her to a residential home. She is under mental health social care as learning disability would not take her on (money),we have fought to get her under the disability team for years and they agreed to another assessment (saying it was unclear if she had a difficulty or disability).Low and behold they said she has not got a learning disability its more like Autism but her autism assessment says she isn't autistic. I have lots of education psychologist and other reports that they will not look at. Does anybody know where i can get a private LD Assessment done as I'm not getting anywhere with the local authority. It is very clear she has a learning disability and Autism.

This happened to my girl, who sounds like yours, She has several learning difficulties and Autism with High and definite Sensory processing disorder, but got no help for school! why? if the IQ is over 69 they are not Learning disabled! According to Social services! my girl was deemed to have an IQ of 70, So did not fit the System! she went through hell at school, and ended up sectioned, and placed in a Winterbourne view scenario! in a Priory Hospital. This ridgid law needs to be investigated now! A great deal of harm is being carried out all over the UK.

Same, for my Son, but different area. He should of gone to LD School i believe aged 6yrsHe is diagnosed Autism, Developmental Dyspraxia, ADHD, Dyslexia, Schizophrenia. Has Delay in processing. I think that my now 34yr old Son, should of been offered to go LD School at aged 6yrs, only got full Diagnosis's at aged 30yrs, after inpatient stay.

Awful isn't it. Try Scope, National Autistic Society, Mencap helpline here. We literally have to do So much to get anywhere. Very draining. Best Wishes

I got scored a iq of 69. If I had one point extra I wouldn’t be under the LD team and they are fantastic and I’m well supported. Had the same community nurse for nearly 10 years and I’ve never had a problem with benefits or at my supported living house. In my option MH team is rubbish in comparison. LD is holistic where MH is all about the MH and no social support with housing and benefits,
