Care reviews

My daughter is in supported housing with 2 other adults who all have complex physical needs and learning disabilities. Recently some social workers visited and announced that the number of care hours was being reduced. This was without a proper review and without asking myself or an independent advocate to be present. There wasn't any consideration of the 3 residents or their wellbeing. I think they've had a directive from a higher authority to cut costs. I have contacted the social services and challenged the decision and asked for a meeting. I am busy arming myself with information and legal stuff, but I wondered if anyone had experienced a similar situation, and if you have any advice? Thank you in advance.

Thank you. I will see what the outcome of our meeting is, but I don't intend to let them get away with it!

social service want to replace my sons one to one support with a video monitor in the house next door where there are other residents. he needs round he clock support and has his own annex attached to the house. does anyone have experience of this and how we can get evidence to object

I have been reading the Care Act 2014 and I think the main points which will support both my case and yours are related to 'person centred' and 'wellbeing'. The person’s wishes must be considered in all decisions about care. I'm in the process of going through it all and trying to make a case. Fingers crossed xx

Yes Social services, removed overnight care, leaving her alone in a flat! she was extremely anxious, and ended up sectioned and put into a Priory Hospital far from home, where she almost died, we got her out after 2 years but she has been very badly damaged, Emotionally and lost many skills! do not trust Community Living teams and social workers.
