Hi. Me +husband look after my sister, from birth severe learning disabilities. She came to us after yrs of financial abuse and neglect.

Been with us 4 6 months. Our private rented house ,its a tight squeeze. Far too small 4 us all.

Husband recovering from cancer retired due to ill health.

I'm working 25 hrs. Min wage.

We're do we go 4 help to move desperately.

I would start with your local Council, take all Proofs of all Health Conditions, Diagnosises, Birth Certificates, Proof of Address & Rented not Owned, Wage Slip, Bank Statements for the last 3 - 6 months, Proof of Name on Bills, Proof of Sister living with you & any Benefits of course. They will point you to Social Housing Groups, or help you directly Council List to join, there will be a Banding given to you, depending on how bad your situation & Needs of your Sis & Husband are, depends on how High they will Band you eg Gold Medical etc or Silver Medical. Get an Adult Social Care Worker, ask Gp for referal for Carer's Assessment. They will help you in all this, you can have an Advocate to speak for you, look up Advocacy Service. DWP call them to make sure You, Sister, Husband are all getting any Benefits you should be Entitled to, this could be PIP, Universal Credit, Housing & Council Tax Benefit. Apply with help to fill out eg Citizens Advice, tell them Everything. Carer's Allowance too.

Mandi73, Your Welcome just make sure they know your House is Overcrowded & be strong, every fine detail counts, eg if anyone gets Dizziness, then Push for Ground floor or Stairlift, Adaptations etc. Good luck, it can take time, but worth long term stability Housing wise.

Hi Mandi73 , in addition to the answer already on this thread which is very comprehensive, if you feel you need more support you can call Mencap's Learning Disability Helpline to speak with a trained adviser who should be able to help. You can contact them free on 0808 808 1111 or email helpline@mencap.org.uk if you prefer.

Hope that helps - I'm sure others would like to hear about how you get on so please stay in touch.
