Hello, I am a Fully Qualified Mental Health Therapist and Peer Support Worker, In relation to you speaking to your Doctor about your concerns,I recommend that over the weekend, sit down and talk with your friends about how you are feeling, have a note book handy and make some notes on how you are feeling and take these note with you to your Appointment with your Doctor.

Best wishes

Gary W. Leese LLB MHPS

Mental Health Therapist and Peer Support Worker.

just tell the doctor the truth and what your struggling with and how it’s affecting your work. You could also speak to the mencap helpline and access to work it’s a government body and free access. There’s also a disability advisor at most jobcentres they may also have advice for you.

Thank you 😊 I havent even heard of access to work so that's another place I can go to :) I only get phone calls with the job centre so I don't ever go near one but will start with the doctor first and see what they say

hi Tinker Bell! I also talked too much and worked slowly - still do sometimes. At the age of 61 I got diagnosed as being autistic. The field has evolved. The latest definition of autism includes differences both in communication and in sensory processing. Sensory includes sound and sight and feel but also other ways of experiencing one’s body and the world.

It took me over twenty years between first suspecting I had the condition and actually getting the diagnosis, and an educational psychologist earlier told me (incorrectly) that I wasn’t autistic. Women often present differently from men. Having the diagnosis has really helped my mental health and has enabled me to make better decisions. To get a diagnosis as an articulate adult, one needs a really good specialist. One place recommended by my local Mencap is the “Lorna Wing Centre” and they do take NHS patients but there’s a long wait. So some people go there and pay for a private consultation.

Just having autism as a possibility opened doors for me, not just regarding myself but regarding family members. You could try visiting websites like wrongplanet.net and yellowladybugs.com.au and follow some of the conversations to see whether those people are reflecting on themes that seem relevant to you.

Thank you so much for this 💗 I had been looking at mencap before and what it said about a learning disability sounds so much like me :/
