Lars Ulrich is an international heavy metal musician. Tom Spicer has Fragile X Syndrome and lives in in Devon. For twenty years all Tom has wanted it to meet Lars. Finally, his brother and sister promise to make it happen...
To celebrate Learning Disability week, the makers of the film have made it available for free!
This is a great film! We went to a special screening when it first came out (because our two sons both have FXS) and met members of the family involved in making the film. It gives a wonderfully funny and sad picture of a young man, many of whose characteristics we could see reflected in our sons, fighting his hyperarousal reactions to make an epic trip to see his idol. It also tells the story of his two unaffected siblings coming to terms with reconnecting with their brother in adulthood.
It's fantastic isn't it? We are going to be joined by Will Spicer (Tom from the film's brother who directed it and did a lot of the filming) for a Q&A on Facebook Live on Friday - pop along if you can and ask a question!
