Looking for a job as a care leaver with Learning Disabilities

My 20 yr. old foster son finishes his education at college in July and I am looking to help him find a job of some sort in catering, which he has studied whilst at college.

Any pointers as where to start? We live in the south of England.

I am not sure if they are in your area, but you could try The Camden Society, Unity Cafe.

We are on IOW and the island has a service through social work/ job centre called no barriers which supports people with LD into work. Often catering can be seasonal but that’s not to say your son won’t find work in the winter. Your first stop could be the job centre to see what they have to offer in the way of support, also don’t be afraid to ask businesses directly if you know somewhere he might like to work. Aside from hotel/restaurants care homes also have catering jobs and these might be more suited to your son as the work is slightly less pressured. Good luck!
