Does anyone have information on how properties /supported living contracts are commissioned by Local authorities

Hello All

My daughter has now lost her home it occurred within 6 weeks of notice being served by her care team. The team had their own staffing issues 7 team members down. I received no written notice from the local authority who write these contracts or the Service provider.

Her autism /LD needs were not met by them yet the Local Authority still allowed them to do this. She is still paying her rent and has had to give 1 months notice. Everything we tried was blocked so that she could remain in her accommodation.

I want to know has anyone seen their young adults care contract that was commissioned by the local authority & the care team ?

What are the laws on this occurring what is in place to protect the vulnerable person & not the businesses ?

What are the laws that can stop transfer to an assessment unit just because the LA doesn't have another supported living option.

Real concerns here : How many of our loved ones have been placed in these short term options that are now looking permanent and who is doing anything to protect them?

Training investigators thats are truly independent ?

Any advice or knowledge would be appreciated

hi cakes, ive been on a section 3 in a learning disability a&t hospital for months before and i woudnt recommend these hospitals for anyone but those who are in a sectionable crisis throuh behaviors because its so noisy with staff panic alarms and even fire alarms going off constantly, heavy use of PRN medication ,restraining dependant, institutionalising, burnt out staff making horrible comments on service users who they think cant hear them or wont be taking on what theyre saying. etc.

lots of people in at the same time as me though-they never got restrained and were in there because there was no place in the borough they came from that had a place for them, one guy i remember had been in there for a year when i went and he was just found a placement before i left.

these hospital placements are suposed to cost a lot of money so why cant they pay to send your daughter to a supported living place in the next borough? thats what they did with me in my current place and have done in residential in the past with me.

it might be worth asking about living in full time respite until a place is found-its a lot more homely and nice and less stressful and noisy plus you woud get more time out, more time doing things unlike in the hospital, ive been given long full time respite before several times while they were trying to find a placement.

theres also something called shared lives-i dont know if its something you woud like but it might be worth a look, one of my best friends went into this when our residential home got shut down.

Hi i know a company who would know the answer to that, but whether they would be able to assist will depend on where you are in the country, so can i ask what area you live.
