Do you need special needs childcare in the UK?

From my own experience, looking after and coping with a child who has special needs and/or disabilities can be extremely tiring and time consuming. I found myself in a situation where I was unable to do anything for myself and had nowhere to turn too due to my sons condition. I couldn't see my friends, make important appointments, go shopping .. you name it. I checked online for respite care but didn't find much at all for children with special needs. I needed someone who had the experience to handle my sons condition and who could visit my home to look after my son for a few hours while I got things done. Wish they were around when my now 31yr old Son was a Child. Great they are there for Children/Carers now though at least.
