Hello
I am sorry to hear this - how stressful.
There are a few posts about PIP on here that you might find useful:
> healthunlocked.com/mencap/p....
> healthunlocked.com/mencap/p...
> healthunlocked.com/mencap/p...
There is are also some excellent advice on these websites:
> Citizen's Advice - citizensadvice.org.uk/benef... - they also have local branches so see if there is one near you that can help.
> Turn 2 Us - turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guid...
You can also call our Learning Disability Helpline on 0808 808 1111 or you can email helpline@mencap.org.uk and talk to one of our trained advisors.
Best wishes
Sarah
Hi, yes I applied for PIP on behalf of my adult daughter and she got no points at all! I then sent off for the mandatory reconsideration and she got it.Reading up on the questions online was invaluable, as was asking helplines etc as you've already been advised. Wording seems to be the key.
I am sure it is because of the issues raised by the pandemic that it is easier to refuse most applications in the first instance, then look at them properly if the decisions are challenged.
Good luck and please don't give up.
