Borderline intellectual functioning : Hello im... - Mencap
Borderline intellectual functioning

I’m sorry that you are struggling and I think that it is important that you see someone about getting some support and help. There are lots of different people who can help us when we are struggling but it is hard to know who to talk to sometimes. Sometimes, people who have borderline intellectual functioning have other things that make life difficult as well, like anxiety or Autism or difficulty getting a job so it is important to talk to someone about all these things. I can think of three people who might be able to help. These are your doctor who should be able to arrange for you to see someone who can help; or you could phone the adult social services department where you live; or you could phone the Mencap helpline where you can talk to someone about the help you need. I hope you find some help soon. x
Hello Shellybluebell29
Welcome. It is lovely to have you here.
SpeedyH 's post is spot on. It is really is important that you get some extra support.
Here are a few ideas:
> Talk to your GP - see if they can offer any more help. They may know what sort of support is available near where you live.
> Talk to your local council - they will have a team that helps adults. It will probably be called Adult Social Services. See if they can help you.
> There may be a Mencap group near you. You can search on here - mencap.org.uk/search/groups
> Give our helpline a call on 0808 808 1111 (or email helpline@mencap.org.uk if you find that easier).
If you find it hard to do these things yourself, is there anyone who can help you? Perhaps someone in your family or a friend.
Best wishes
Sarah
Dear Shelly, thank you for making contact. Sorry to hear you are struggling. I suggest you contact your GP. You could always call the Learning Disability Helpline on 0808 808 1111. There may also be a local mencap nearby. You'll find your local Mencap group here: mencap.org.uk/search/groups
I hope this helps
Take care
