Do you have a child with a learning disability aged five or under?

Are you aware of your rights if they have to go to hospital?

Don't worry if you aren't sure, we have created a short animation with Bradford People First to help.

It explains what your rights are in hospital and what reasonable adjustments are too.

No one should have to experience healthcare inequalities because they have a learning disability.

Visit our website to see the animation and our new resources for families and carers, and health care professionals: bit.ly/TMWChildrenResources

Hi Mike, is this campaign just for under-5s? My daughter is 12 and I often get frustrated at hospital appointments as they use complex language and expect her to follow instructions quickly ie for an x-ray

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. Treat me well is a campaign for all people with learning disabilities and autism. We have been focussing on young people especially early years children over the past 6 months and will be soon publishing resources for older children going through transition from children's to adult services. Feel free to use the resources on the Mencap website especially those about reasonable adjustments that should be made in hospital. Keep in touch.
