Hi I've posted on here in the pa's so if you'd like to know more about the history I'm sure previous posts are available.
I'm so nervous. Had a letter last week to say that the paediatrician consultant will be phoning tomorrow with feedback from a MAAT meeting. I'm so worried about this as I really want to know what is going on. I'm hoping for a diagnosis so I can have answers for my sons behaviours ect and more importantly get him and myself the right support. Without a diagnosis I worry I'm going to be stuck in limbo again. This phonecall was due to be face to face however with the virus about obviously things have changed. I just want what's best. My child's school and myself and family and friends believe that he is autisic and the school have said that if they say on the phonecall that he isn't I should ask for a second opinion elsewhere. The senco teacher has said he she would be suprised if they do say he isn't. My son was recently diagnosed with having general moderate learning difficulties.
Welcome. It is such a shame that this all has to be done over the phone rather than face to face.
Waiting for phone calls like this is nerve wracking. I struggle to remember what I meant to say on the phone so I sometimes write down a list of questions and have them with me during the phone call. Do you think that might be worth a go?
It can also be useful so you can write down things they say on the phone to you.
If you aren't happy with is said on the phone do ask for a second opinion. You know your son best and professionals need to listening to what you think
Can you still take to your son's school/SENCO?
If so, they may be able to help you talk through what is said and understand what it will mean for your son.
Please go call our helpline if you need any support.
There is a lot of information about diagnosis on the National Autistic Society website -
