My 14yr old daughter has just had her diagnosis of learning disability. She score low for all the daily living etc. What information and support should I expect from CAMHS now the diagnosis has been made? I also disagree with the autism diagnosis I believe she has it they are saying there isn't enough evidence??
I now have a diagnosis: My 14yr old daughter has just... - Mencap
I now have a diagnosis

Hi
As your daughter is 14 if she goes to mainstream school the Special Educational Needs Advisor (SENCO) should be one involved. I know it is unusual circumstances but I would still try contacting the school and ask for their opinion and help.
I presume your daughter is in mainstream school.
CAMHS have various professionals like psychiatrists, psychologists, speech and language therapists etc. Who could become part of a plan for your daughter.
You can always ask for a Re-assessment but in the meantime find out what evidence you need and collect what you think might help for any reassessment.
Contact the National Autistic Society.
MENCAP May also be useful.
What will happen next is also dependent on the level of support it is thought your daughter needs. Money is tight for this so you will have to ask and get the school SENCO on board.
Hopefully an educational and health care plan will be written which will outline her needs and show what help and support she will be given
Hope this helps
Hi thank you for replying, my daughter attends a special school and already has a EHCP. She has only been there for a couple of months so there isn't enough observational evidence for the autism, even though she is in a class for autistic children. Now the full decision is made I am waiting own the full report from CAHMS. I will send her key worker a message so voice my concerns.
My fear is that now she is in a class that is created got easy the autistic behaviour it will be harder to see also she masks it at school and we get it at home. It's a vicious circle.
I have looked at MenCap I could find my way around the website to be honest. In will try the other one.
Thanks

When my son was 14 the public school board with the help of my advocate determined he’d be better of in an alternative learning environment. He went away to private school, paid for by the town I live in.
