hi everyone, does anyone know of a buddy system in or around Cannock Staffordshire
my son is 56yrs old complex learning difficulties and lives in a supported living complex, but his life has become quiet segregated since the units car was taken away
and the local bus service reduced. I get older he gets older and our lives get worse.

Welcome. I am so sorry that your son is not able to get out as much as he would like.
There are quite a few groups listed here learningdisabilitycannock.o... but they do seem to rely on your son getting there.
Forgive me - I am not familiar with Staffordshire but here are a few ideas - some of them are face to face, but some are over the phone. Do you think your son would like that?
It would also be worth emailing our helpline (helpline@mencap.org.uk.) as they may know about other support available locally.
When you are busy worrying about someone else all the time it can be very hard to find time to look after yourself too. Do you get a chance to get out and let off a bit of steam? Do you have family and friends who can support you? There might be a carers centre near you that could offer you a bit of support.
