For lots of families, the arrival of the school holidays means a bit of a break and an chance to spend some time together.

But the arrival of the summer months can cause a lot of anxiety if your child or sibling has a learning disability.

If you’re a parent of a child with a learning disability who has just started the holidays holidays how are you feeling? Are you worried about the change in routine? Share your concerns here, there might be someone out there who can help.

Or maybe you’ve got a solid plan for the summer up your sleeve that you’d like to share. If you’ve got great tips for support, short breaks, or accessible activities, we’d love to hear them!

Thanks

Sarah

Hello Sarah

As a home educator we find the summer holidays a bit stressful. Places that were once quiet are now crowded and we find ourselves staying at home a lot more. My son loves the garden so it’s not a problem. He loves water play and his giant trampoline too.

I’d be interested to hear how others cope at this time of year.

Happy Summer Holidays 😎

Best wishes

I often find that we need to plan a new routine for medication and regular drinks as when my daughter is at college it the same time same routine but during the holidays it changes. I put reminders into my phone so we don’t forget to take meds and do medical Interventions.

Hi Sofan

Hope you are enjoying the holidays so far? I do like that tip of adding reminders for medication on your phone. I might use it for my son. Do you use an app, or just the phone’s standard alarm?

Best wishes
