Hi, does anyone know of any schemes running over the summer which could cope with my 12 year old son (he has severe learning difficulties, autism, epilepsy and challenging behaviour)?
Our local special needs playscheme, run by Take A Break, can no longer take him as they will not use physical intervention when he has a meltdown.
He has been out of education since January, and we've managed to get him a residential school placement from September, but in the meantime it's almost impossible to find activities he can access safely. Our Social Services are useless and have come up with nothing helpful at all. We are in the Midlands but prepared to travel anywhere in the UK to get some specialist help over the summer.
All suggestions welcome - we are desperate.

Hi. Not first hand. But I know someone who used the Bedfordshire one. It get so tricky as it depends what you need, what they offer, and how much it costs. I hope you find something that suits your son.
Hi, i just wanted to thank you for your help on this and to say I did find a good playscheme in the end, in Solihull area (SoLo) which was only an hour away. Our Warwickshire social svcs funded our place and has realised there is nothing similar in county, and has engaged their services so we may have helped other families too.
