Update on my husband

Tony is having a non hypermetabolic tumor removed from his lung day after tomorrow. We originally discovered his melanoma when they removed a tumor from his other lung in 2018 and the pathology tested positive. He's been on Tafinlar & Mekinist ever since. Hopefully this one will be negative; apparently the doctor decided to remove it prophylactically because Tony has been NED this entire time. Hoping for the best.

What a blessing the Tek Mek combo has been effective for so long. Holding you both up for speedy recovery and a boring pathology report Will he have to stay in hospital overnight?

Yes, staying one night due to general anesthesia. Hopefully home on Saturday.

Sending many positive vibrations for you and your husband for succesful surgery and speedy recovery. And of course for maintaining the NED status. ❤️

Thank you all for your support. It is so helpful. His surgery went well but recovery is taking longer than hoped. Wedge resection of lung; initial observation of tumor looks good. Will have path report in a week.

Tony ended up spending four nights in hospital recovering but good news is the tumor was not cancerous. Instead, it was caused by Valley Fever, so now he's looking at a 3-6 month regime to treat that. Wish they had drilled down further on the bronchoscopy biopsy they took six years ago, but at the time only interested in ruling out lung cancer. Oh well, good news 😊 overall. Thank you all for being here.

Wonderful news no cancer, sorry to hear about the Valley Fever, sure hope that isn’t a horrible treatment process.

Interesting. They decided not to treat the Valley Fever. Instead took him off the Taf/Mek regime. Indefinite drug holiday.
