One month into meds

We met with the oncologist yesterday. Three months after diagnosis and one month into Taf/Mek regime, my husband's PET scan shows no hyper metabolic activity. The plan is to keep doing this for a year, then stop and monitor. I guess monitor means wait for a tumor to show up? He's to see a dermatologist every three months to watch for squamous cell and any new sites of origin. Doc said he could stop taking meds for 3 days to see if he feels any relief from flu symptoms; that allows his body to "reset" and possibly tolerate drugs better.

HSsweetheart, Thts is wonderful news about your husband’s Scans. When the meds work, they work. My husband was on Taf/Mek for 6 months. During that time he had 3 squamous cells removed through Mohs, so don’t worry it happens. My husband did try the stop and reset, finally they had to put him on steroids which did the trick. They have many things to help make side effect minimal. I will be praying for your husband and you as well. Have. Very Merry Christmas. EnJOY every moment.
