Hi, I'm wondering if I have this disorder but can't currently get a proper diagnosis/go to a doctor about it. How do I know if I have this disorder?I don't know what a "restful sleep" is like. I am always tired, yawning, or needing to sleep. I always want to sit down no matter how long I've been standing or moving around. I am frequently in pain from simple things like walking up and down the stairs to get to my dorm (about 5 flights of 7 stairs in a spiral) to the point i almost screamed in pain when I kneeled down to plug in my headphones. I rarely have the desire to be active even if it's something I want to do. I lay in bed almost all the time and could sleep for hours. I used to have spells where I would get so anxious that I couldn't keep myself standing. This was diagnosed as psychosomatic stress. I am already diagnosed with major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

Is this Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or part of my other disorders?

It'd be impossible to offer any kind of diagnosis on here ... so many things can cause pain/chronic fatigue, & its quite possible to be an effect of your mental health issues. It could also be fibromyalgia, underactive thyroid, artificial sweeteners, Lyme disease, b12 deficiency .... the list goes on.

You really need to find a doctor who is willing to test for options other than your mental health, to see if more is going on.

ME/CFS is a neurological illness, characterised by something called PEM. Post exertional malaise. Meaning you suffer more than you should from overdoing anything physical or mental. Individual to each person. Recovery can take anything from 3-4days, to months. You are really wiped out. There are numerous other symptoms.

Most cases follow having a virus EG flu. And never recovering.

Hope you find some answers 🙏

Thank you for this information! I don't expect to get a diagnosis online, especially not from a doctor. I was hoping that I could get more information on what it *could* be that makes me feel so exhausted. Thank you for your help!!!

Hello, it is difficult with feeling ill and not knowing the cause.

You can find information on possible alternative conditions and the symptoms of ME her - me-pedia.org/wiki/Different...

One classic example with ME is post exertional fatigue often coming on 24 - 48 hours after exercise, but there is a long list and some of your symptoms certainly overlap with some.

ME Association have a helpline if you would like to talk to someone about it - meassociation.org.uk/

I would speak to your doctor about you knee pain as that sounds like it needs investigating. It is possible to have more than one health problem!
