Hi I have M.E/CSF plus Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and have been offered treatment of I've bisphosphonates for osteoporosis. I am a little worried about this as I don't like the sound of the side effects. I also have a large hiatus hernia. Has anyone ever had this treatment and if so what are your experiences please?

Hi yes I am on zolendronic infusions, one a year for three years, for osteoporosis, plus AdCal.
I tried the oral aledndronic acid but couldn't tolerate it. Also have hiatus hernia and allergies. I was referred to the Rheumatologist. Normally they only give the infusions if you have actually fractured a bone, but I explained about exercise limitations because of the ME, dietary restrictions from allergies and intolerance, and the fact my mother had severe ME and they agreed to give me the yearly infusions. Apart from feeling a bit fluey for a day I have no side effects.
Hi strongmouse, thank you for reply, it has rested my mind about having the treatment, I think we worry that sometimes certain treatments can cause other conditions to deal with.
Always wise to find out beforehand. Always drink plenty of water when you are on it and take the calcium and vitamin D supplements.
I did hear about some people with side effects but they seemed to be a very small percent of people who had been on it a long time mainly for other conditions.
