Flu season here!

Hello folks, I'm interested to know if long term ME sufferers end up with a totally weird immunity. I'm in my early 70's, developed ME following viral pneumonia in my 30's, then over a decade later discovered I also had Hashimoto's thyroiditis (am on thyroxine).I've managed to dodge Covid even though my partner had it and I nursed him through it....we were both vaccinated. I rarely get colds but live with an array of prevailing symptoms - tiredness, achy joints and muscles, 'slow brain' and low energy levels.

We both had flu shots around 4 weeks ago with minimal side effects (mostly sore arm). Several days ago I developed what I first thought was a cold, (runny nose, sore face etc) then my temp shot up to 39.5, throat was mildly sore along with a dry cough.

Not suggesting this infection is related to getting flu shots, although I guess my immune system might've revved and then slowed, making me more susceptible to viruses etc.

Interestingly though, I feel much better in myself...much less achey, my thinking is sharper and I have loads more energy! I'm 4 days into this infection (my temp's near normal again) and I'd happily trade this state of being for the way my body feels normally!

This also happened after my first Covid jab several years ago...I felt great for around 12 hours, then reverted to my usual achey, tired self.

I apologise for the long post - felt I needed to include all this to show the pattern. My question is about our immunity post ME and how common is this rather unexpected reaction to subsequent infection and challenges to our immune system?

Thankyou all!

Yes, I have had ME the same amount of time as you and get the same reaction. Most strange and good to feel normal for a short amount of time.

Many thanks for replying DottysMum. I rode the wave and am slowly sliding back into my usual state now. I'd like to understand the process better, why it happens and is infection the only switch that flicks us back on, if only temporarily.

dear friends, as much as i want to advise people, i shouldn't, so will only say what I've chosen.

i'm not having any 'covid' injections,

i'm not having any flu injections. have not for decades.

i've chosen natural health here.

i had probable 'covid' at new year, for 2-3 weeks.

the last cold i had was 5 years before that.

i've had m.e for over 15 years,

gradually recovering

take care
