I am interested in trying this medication as my condition is very severe. My G.P. is broadly supportive but apparently his colleagues are all against. He states he will prescribe if he can find professional support He has written to my local specialist service but they have no doctor at present. Has anyone been prescribed Modafinil by their G.P. or Specialist? I have been advised of a Neurologist who is in favour of prescribing this for M.E. but he works out of a private hospital in Chelmsford and I live near Truro in Cornwall. To consult with him would be a mammoth undertaking - he will not offer a remote consultation.
Or is anyone aware of any research articles which support the prescription of Modafinil in M.E./CFS patients?

This is a medication for Narcolepsy and Excessive daytime sleepiness. It is a "stimulant" however there is research suggesting its usefulness with M.S patients and fatigue. The link kindly provided by PortiaRose123 suggests it might have other beneficial effects as regards the immune system. (At this point I've only had a quick scan as I am very fatigued today).
Just a quick reply - had a google and found this article. Not read it so not sure if helpful. I subscribe to the ME Association which is a scientific based research charity so they may have some information on their website.
