Hi

Does anyone else drink a lot of Coke Zero as I do.I drink 4-6 cans a day and it is my main drink of the day.I just wondered if anyone else on here does and wonder if there’s a link to why I feel so bad.

Hi,

That’s a lot of cans and a lot of fizz!

It’s also a lot of artificial ingredients potentially affecting your gut microbiome.

I have discovered that the old adage ’you are what you eat’ is very true when it comes to controlling CFS/ME symptoms. For example in my case, if I eat soya I’m knackered for the next couple of days. It holds true when I have alcoholic drinks too.

I guess you’ve already worked out that you may need to find a different drink for a while to see what happens!

Good luck. 🙂

Hi

My daughter has ME/CFS and can’t touch the stuff. Flares up all of her gastro symptoms that she has as part of the condition.

I on the other hand am perfectly healthy and also have a Diet Coke habit but only a couple of cans a day.

I think 4-6 cans is excessive whether you’re healthy or not! Definitely worth switching it out for a week or so to see if it helps.

Best of luck

K

Hi, wow, that's a lot of fizzy drinks. I'm pretty sure all those chemicals can't be helping your body cope with your ME.

I had to stop drinking coke and alcohol and now I've had to cut out lactose, all because they either trigger migraines, cause stomach problems and even breathing issues.

Yes I have a huge Cherry Pepsi Max habit. I have cut it out for months at a time but to be honest I didn't find a great improvement. I have to be doing better than normal to have the willpower to stop, so it is a bit difficult to tell. I think one problem is if the caffeine stops you feeling as tired as you really are, you might end up doing more than you should be doing.

That can't be good for you - have you looked at the ingredients? Aspartame is the main sweetener, and it has a lot of bad press, so if I were you I would try to cut down, if not ween yourself off it. Regalbirdy is so right in saying 'you are what you eat' :)

Hi Derby. I drink a lot of Diet Coke. I don’t quite know why. I never used to touch fizzy drinks. I started on Red Bull. Then my husband pointed out I was drinking a lot of it. Switched to Diet Coke. I think it helps with my dry mouth.

I also find I cannot drink regular coffee which used to be my main drink. Makes me feel quite nauseous.

Not what you're looking for?
