Well, it may be (almost) Friday and it is definitely Pom Pom time, but we have no racers at present; none, rien, nienti, nada, zip……. Maybe organisers deserved a break this weekend, or perhaps our runners have built in a little recovery time at the start of their 2025 programmes. Not bad ideas when you think about it!
I went out for a 5k rehab run this morning; but it stopped at 3k with my pesky calf playing up again. Probably didn’t like the 2 degree temperature with even colder windchill 🤷♂️. To make matters worse, the cafe was closed! It is just possible that the staff are having an extra day off to recover from New Year’s Eve excesses. I know the proprietors well!!
So, if it is ok with you,I will put this week’s Pom Poms brigade on alert, just in case we get some late entries. We could fit in some practice waving moves in the meantime, if anyone has time on their hands! Photos would be good🙂. My pic shows Molly in full alert mode with Pom Pom at the ready following her afternoon walk….She needs a brush!
There are definitely some racers lined up for next weekend, and I will be posting the February Events item next week, so keep a sharp look out. This could be a good time to think through your race plans for 2025; we would be happy to hear all about them.
We hope that everyone has a great final weekend of the Christmas break.
Well that is definitely worth a cheer from me Dexy5 🙂 I have been bought similar hats this winter, all sporting extra large pom poms, just like the one pictured. Must be the winter 2024/5 collection. I hope that the magnificent 10 have a great day and enjoy even finer apres run second breakfast 🙂
I was supposed to be leading a cycle ride tomorrow but we’ve cancelled as the roads may be icy. We have invited participants to turn up for a 2 hour cross country walk instead, so we will see how that goes.
The whole month is looking very quiet just now. I think I'll do some Molly type prep ... hmm, then again maybe I should take the opportunity to tidy Chriatmas away. I love the festive season, but I'm always really happy when its over too 😊
Mrs BC and I agree. I am a stickler for tradition and every Christmas decoration is a memory. I have so many memories that I used only half of them this year. I really need another tree 🤣
I’m having a good cleanup when I get home. I opened a cupboard over Christmas that had heaven knows what in it as I hadn’t touched it since we moved eleven years ago! Time for a huge clear out 🧹
I was left to clear away Christmas as per as OH had to urgently take a stocktake of his screw collection down in the bottom shed. When the going gets tough ……. 🙄
My new yoga strap came in handy for hauling two Christmas trees up to the attic 💪. Putting things away took hours but I felt epic having got it all done
I had to stop to mend the hoover 🤬 🛠 😤 I’d sucked up some string ☺️
I had an avalanche of boxes of cakes, puddings and mince pies etc that wouldn’t fit anywhere so I left them in a heap on the side ☺️ I couldn’t stop the inexorable slide once the mountain of goodies gathered momentum 🙈 😁
I’ve enjoyed sitting here this morning catching up with all the news ☕️🫖. The snow is sliding off the roof and crashing onto the conservatory 🙉 The sun has come out so I’m off out 🏃♀️ shortly. I’ll be sporting my new Town hat and wearing my new merino boxers under my winter tights. Santa has been very generous as I’ve been good 😇
I did manage a plus ten miler last Saturday. It was very icy, and the wind on the return leg was ‘orrible ☹️ I keep telling myself I wanted to quit and head home, but I didn’t listen, and pressed on. My tunes were so appropriate and their lyrics made me laugh out loud several times 😄 I ran to Coach B’s ten mile run. I think it might be a new one 🤔. When I’d finished I walked 2km to get home, and felt I’d had a good workout. My hip was painful most of the time but I put it down to cold 🥶 I was fine the next day
The energy bars recipe IP posted ages ago is a belter! I took one with me yesterday for my planned half marathon, and ate it about the hour mark. I managed 11k before throwing in the towel. The ice was ridiculous 🙄
Prep done, but this one could take years to come to fruition. Energy bar sounds great, but sugar? My last “pre diabetes” class on Wednesday….. surely I will be out of the woods on that now!
yes sugar and honey. I have some of the zero sugar ones but you don’t derive any noticeable energy return from them so not much kop on long runs. They do taste good though.
Just got a fresh batch of the zero sugar nut/choc/sea salt bars and the oat based BoBo bars in my Christmas box from the US 🎅🏻
I will ask our leader about sugar consumed during a long run; you would think that we would burn it all off! I will miss my class though. A real esprit de corps!
I “swung into action” yesterday and schlepped into town early to collect seed potatoes order. I put my running gear on so I could head out afterwards 🏃♀️
Once home I snaffled one of those Zero nut choc salt bars and headed out with Coach B for the 90 min guided run. By about 70 mins in I’d run out of gas 😤 I was going up Hagg Hill 😁. Getting to the end seemed like an eternity 😫
Note to self, don’t cut corners with nutrition! You’d think I’d have learned that by now 🙈
I’m out the door now, honestly 😀🏃♀️Been waiting for a break in the rain while tip tapping on here. It’s still raining but it looks brighter at least 🙂
