My (our) alarm was set for 7am this morning. Thankfully I woke up in time to stop it awakening Mrs BC ! Now why would I be getting out of bed at 7am on a Saturday! …and then I remembered. Today is the day of Sandie1961 ‘s 100th Park Run, and I thought that I would get up and out of the door to join her (virtually) at 9am on her celebration parade! I made it; just!
For me it was the latest run in my comeback from a niggle, so it was always going to be a gentle jog, but that gave me time to reflect on the time when four us; Sandie, cheekychipmunks and Dexy5 (with the benefit of coaching from UpTheStanley ) and I went from 5k to 10k together and then on through 10 miles and, in some cases HM together. We egged each other on, with a mixture of humour, warmth and the occasional virtual boot up the backside! We kept each other going through the tougher moments, and celebrated the great ones. That isn’t to exclude the loads of lovely VRBs we have acquired over the years. It’s just that today is Sandie’s milestone day and it is sometimes good to reflect on how we got here, and treasure those who have been with us from the very start. Happy 100 Park Runs Sandie; don’t spare the 🍾🥂

Awww, thank you my lovely fellow musketeer! Made me giggle and brought a lump to my throat at the same time. We have, indeed, been through some times over the past 6 years. Long may it continue - “all for one and one for all” 🤺
Exactly Sandie. I had a good day too; nice run, new running shoes and a freezing cold 0-0 at the Riverside! Can’t have it all…..the day is still young for you though.🙂
🍏So beautifully said & testimony to the amazing camaraderie that exists between many runners! That spirit of gratitude to the input of others in our lives is so important in all areas but often modelled by the running community!! Thank you!! 🤩
Aww Beachcomber66 , you soppy old (not in that way) Captain Sensible! That was lovely. Yes indeed, we’ve had some tricky sticky moments along the way, but we’ve all kept each other going.
Long may the Musketeers keep running. All for one, and one for all. ❤️
Such a beautiful post and so thoughtful. These forums are very special to all of us and reading posts like these that are full of kindness and genuine thoughtfulness is the reason we all come on here. Thank you BC and I hope you enjoyed your run.🥰xx
I love this! Well done each and everyone of you, but special congratulations to Sandie1961 . I managed to walk a parkrun today and you were all in my thoughts 😊
Thanks JP; “uneventful” is exactly what is needed in comeback runs. 🤞My physio prescribed exercise regime is working. I do seem to go through periods of picking up injuries, having physio, following an exercise plan and then recovering….maybe I should just keep up the recovery exercises as part of a weekly routine….easier said than done, for me anyway.
Yes, in the past when I've had an injury I've added extra exercises to my usual routine and then a different injury has necessitated more exercises - can get very confusing and lengthy!
