So this was my first event in a long while due to injury and I originallly signed up for the 5K rather than the 10k! However, I have been back at 10k on my long runs for the last couple of weeks so I decided to βupgradeβ to the 10 and see how things went!
Firstly, I have to say that the setting for this Canicross and Trail event was absolutely stunning! A night of heavy rain failed to dampen the beauty of Gatton Park and its surroundings - although it did increase the amount of mud in places, more of which later!
We arrived as the canicross runners were on the course and it was lovely seeing the βmuddy pupsβand their muddy owners finishing. It was also great to see there were medals for both the runners and their dogs!πββοΈππ
Great organisation by RunReigate throughout and after a quick bag drop we headed off to the start. We were released in small groups and headed of down the hillside, meandering our way around the paths towards the lake. Once around the lake (and over something called the cascade - wet feet all round) we gradually climbed back up towards the house before heading across a field and along a very muddy and undulating trackβ¦ how I stayed upright I do not know and the best bit is that this was a two-lap race so we got to stagger and slip along it again! πββοΈπ
The finish line was a welcome sight but this is definitely a race I would do again. My time was 1hr 12 but honestly this was about so much more to me. π
Nice wooden medal too, to add to my collection of bling! Itβs been a while but hopefully more to get next week at the London Winter 10k. I am expecting LESS mud and drier feet!ππ

What an uplifting post Sandra! All that pent up IC angst released over 72 minutes, regardless of the mud. Your smile says it all. Time to celebrate ππ₯³πΎπ₯π
Kudos to you for a fab race Sandra. It sounds like super hard work, but your smile belies that! Enjoy your lovely bling and buzz of achievement! ππβ€οΈ
Hereβs to less mud π₯ π. Itβs getting beyond a joke now π
Well done Sandra! π It sounds like a fab event - mud aside π Two laps though means the course is worse second time round. You did it though πͺCongratulations π
