Happy new week lovely VRBs. How are you doing? We'd love to hear all about it - the good, the bad and the plain ordinary too!
I've been a bit absent again the last few weeks for a trip to Ireland with my father. My leg is still playing up so, despite lots of lovely places to run, sadly my shoes have barely been out of the case.
Having said that, I was determined to do two parkruns while I was here. The first was just four minutes from where I have been staying and the route was round a wind farm (I love windmills) so couldn't be missed. The second was out and back along a canal; a 3k out and back, followed by a 2k out and back along the same towpath. Why I wondered? The canal is long enough for a 5k out and back, so why not do that? All became clear in the run director's briefing - it was to emphasise the social side of the event, with everyone encouraged to cheer on everyone else as they passed! Well, why not I guess 😊
I have a half marathon booked for early September (sod's law that it's an early one) and haven't even started my training plan; I feel another 'wing it' event coming on 🙈, Still, I'm not too worried. I'm kind of getting used to not being up to par; when I do get to run, I still love it. That'll do for now 😊
How about you? Are you still loving your running? On track? Or are things getting in the way of the joy?
Let us know it's going for you in the comments below. As always, however the running is going, we hope you have a great week.
🏅If you have run any of these distances and want a shiny new badge, 10 miles/Half Marathon/Metric Marathon (26.2K)/Marathon/Ultra (50K and beyond) then go here:
Good evening from the US of A Linda! We’re on our last night in New York and I’m feeling a bit sad that it’s nearly all over, so a chat with you whilst you’re probably fast asleep (it’s nearing 1.30am in the UK as I type) would be lovely 😊
Sounds like you’ve had a good trip out, sorry to hear you’re still having leg problems. Knowing you, you’ll still get a fast time at your September HM whether you wing it or not!
Definitely not ordinary for us at the moment. Our Amsterdam marathon training plan started the day we landed, amazing timing 😂 So we’ve been making good use of Central Park which is only about 10 blocks away. Very hot and humid though, but that’s useful as it will help us acclimatise for the long runs during the weeks ahead. We also squeezed in a parkrun yesterday and I’ve written about it in Damien’s post healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... so I won’t blather on again about it, suffice to say that it was an amazing experience amongst so many this week!
Yes, the running mojo is back, luckily! It went a little AWOL after the Run 5k a Day in May, but I wanted to have an easier June anyway. The running in Central Park has been a real tonic. We did about 3/4 of it today, finishing near where John Lennon used to live (Katnap was less subtle in a reply to FolkyLass earlier…). I really enjoyed it, it had just about every different environment you could imagine in it, from busy roads and skyscrapers to dense forests and lakes, all in a 10k run!
During a drunken evening at the local Mexican (I’ve discovered a taste for Tequila Sunrises 😋 and Margharitas with chilli salt 😋😋), Katnap revealed to me that he’s signed up for Manchester next year too, so he’d better learn something from this training plan as he’s usually pretty hopeless at following them 😂. It’s the week after we do the London Landmarks HM (we have charity places, failed in the ballot again) so he’s going to be a bit busy…
Anyway, on our return I will write a post but for now it’s almost time to check in online 😭
Strava route map of run in Central Park, New York City
It does seem quite unique cheeky, I actually felt at home, which I didn’t expect. I guess it’s that city girl thing plus it being so familiar anyway. I even let youngest kitten go off on his own yesterday to do his train things.
oooh you’re such a gadabout! 😀. How fabulous to run in New York! I’ve only ever seen it on telly 🙂 Running in pastures new gives the legs a boost I always think 🙂
Doesn’t it just misswobble? Especially with all the training lying ahead of us, I think it needed that boost. It all seems so familiar here and once you’ve got used to the grid system it’s very easy to navigate. Still find the subway very confusing though. The tube is much easier.
I swerve all modes of transport now, preferring leg power. That might change if I ever get an OAP bus pass. Hope to later this year 👵🏻
I’m hoping to explore further into Derbyshire without getting the car out Sitting in traffic lights and roadworks makes me want to just abandon ship and leg it 🏃♀️
There’s plenty of them around here at the moment with all the HS2 work going on and land grabbing for housing around it. Best avoid any beauty spots that have a huge great train line being dug through it, Derbyshire is a very sure fire thing - enjoy 😍
I see that we (Middlesbrough)are playing Real Betis at Chesterfield pre season…bet I know who the locals will support! Hope it raises some cash for Chesterfield.🙂
I told my husband about it yesterday but we’re going on hols so we’re going to miss some pre-season fun. I went to the first one last night. Chippy tea followed by a 9-0 pasting of Matlock 😀⚽️☄️
Geordie territory starts and ends in Newcastle of course….but we often meet geordies on holiday…maybe it is just a matter of the accent being so distinctive so we notice more. Lovely people.
I know but we lump em all together. A bit like Cockneys 😊. My nephew in law is from Gateshead. I sat all all through school with a lad from South Shields, and later worked with loads of chaps from the North East who came to work in mining.
😂 I still remember the celebrity who came to Teesside and started off with “Haway the lads” which was of course received in shocked silence……nobody remembers anything which followed!
No, it was a woman…..my lips are sealed….everyone is entitled to one (colossal) mistake, just like the politician who came into our cafe, saw our Old English Sheepdog and said “Oh look, straight out of the Andrex advert!” Wasn’t going to vote for them anyway, but still 🙄
I am not surprised about your decorator’s problem. OES have a particular type of intelligence. They are very clever full stop….but they also understand about not complying without negotiating price….so you only get about 80 % immediate obedience….the rest is definitely a discussion between equals.
I walk a hound like that! I was walking him today in fact. Got him again on Friday. He’s very single-minded, and because he has the pulling power of an express train, he gets to go where he likes 😀 He used to be my running pal but he’s past it now 🐕
I decided that 40kgs of determined dog strapped to me and running just wouldn’t work. I would never have got her past the cafe for a start…..and she would have been diverting to sniff every minute too, or “reading the newspaper” as I call it!
So I get to do my run uninterrupted and Molly gets a sniff filled walk which is “her walk”. Seems fair to me.
He was great for boldly going etc. really useful in sussing out new routes in uncharted territory. I miss that. We still get to perambulate about the place though
That's awesome Katnap and TailChaser all these wonderful experiences to remember during the block and on Marathon day itself. Very best wishes to you both on the miles and adventure ahead. Safe journey home.
😖😬. I hate travelling with a passion. The sitting and waiting about, the queues, the cancellations, the rigmarole 🤷♀️ After going to the US once I’ve hung up my passport.
My husband missed most of his footy holiday last year due to missing his connecting transport and having to resort to taxis. He’d no money left for partying 😁⚽️
All done and dusted now misswobble, thank you. It wasn’t so bad for us as we had no connecting flights, we were just dependent on being able to take our car out the long stay car park, which amazingly we weren’t charged extra for! And the luggage came back within the 24 hours they promised us. So it wasn’t all terrible after all. I’ve heard such awful tales of travelling over the last 21 years that I’ve not been able to do it that it just added to the pre-holiday stress. In the end it wasn’t so bad as it wasn’t irretrievable, I’m just struggling with the fact that Monday felt 36 hours long and there was very little Tuesday! 😂
So glad you’ve all had a lovely time. I must say, when I went with my nieces and sister, we walked so much seeing all the sights, that putting on running shoes would have been impossible. But I guess we crammed it all into fewer days. Safe journey home TailChaser Katnap and kittens. 🍏
I smashed the step challenge on Garmin this week Dexy - I was 17k steps ahead of the person behind me in the 100k challenge 🤣. There is sooooo much to see, we’ve had a bit of a sweep up today.
Looks like we’ll be here for the start of 4th July judging by how much our flight is being delayed! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Oh cheeky! It’s one of my little motivators, they’re really useful, especially if you have a short stride length as I do, and I suspect you may have. You’d have probably smashed your group too!
I’m currently in a group with Katnap, which has never happened before, and he’s currently beating me by 3k steps (he did two runs yesterday), so I’ll need to do something about that 🤣
What a fabulous trip and what amazing running plans you have lined up too! I hope you've all made it back home now and that you are fully recovered from the horrors of your journey very soon! Go run it off 🙃
I had a lovely run this morning Linda, so hopefully things are slipping back into place. Our remaining luggage was returned as they’d promised, so I’m sitting here in my new Empire State Building t-shirt. Once I get paid I will be booking our flight tickets to Amsterdam and our hotel for the London Landmarks 🥳. Doing London has had an amazing effect on my running confidence, I just seem to get on with it now and don’t stress as much.
We had quite a flexible plan, set by the City Pass bookings and parkrun but with plenty of space for other things. I’d not planned anything after parkrun as I didn’t know how long we would hang around, so the High Line was the perfect filler for the afternoon. Thank you for not mentioning it as I would have tried to fit it in and it just became something spontaneous that youngest kitten felt he owned - it worked really well. That also gave me and youngest kitten the confidence to let go and let him do his own exploring on Sunday, something I wouldn’t have thought possible before we went.
I’ve also been absent the last couple of weeks after a very stressful trip to Spain. Thankful to be home in Australia with my boys & hoping that I won’t need to be returning to Europe anytime soon but we will see.
I’m not on a plan at the moment & pretty relieved that I didn’t sign up for Perth marathon with all my current life stress. I really want to enjoy Marathon training when I get to do it. I was so thankful for the the gift of running whilst away though. I don’t know how I would coped without my daily runs. I’m over halfway through my yearly target of 2023km.
Welcome back RW. Sorry to hear things are so stressful - what would we do without running? Congratulations on your distance so far, that’s amazing! 👏💪💪
Thanks RunWillie . Nurse did the test a couple of hours ago and I've asked for the lab to email the results, so hopefully will get them tomorrow. Can't fault the service - called the doctor's secretary yesterday around 3.00pm, saw him at 5.35pm, called nurse just before 6pm and she was here about 11.30am this morning.
Welcome back RW. Sorry to hear your trip was so stressful. I hope it has at least alleviated some of your worries and you can now rest easier back in Oz. Your running distance is amazing , but I know just what you mean about running through stress - it's so, so helpful. Do remember to take care of you too 🥰
I feel for you. I have a very close friend who moved to Oz over 20 years ago. It was so difficult for both her and her husband being so far away from their parents who remained in the UK. Take care xxx
Thanks Dexy5 😍 It was good to see my sister. It had been 4 years due to border closures & being a 5 hour flight away even though we both live in Australia
Hi Linda and everyone. Home now after the loveliest couple of weeks in Brittany. Back to the day to day. 🥱
I was pleased that I ran 8 times, despite eating my body weight in delicious food; in fact I chalked off Weeks 1 and 2 of the NRC HM Plan, kickstarting my training for Cardiff. I must say though, I took it all verrrrry easy (probably a whole minute/km slower than when running at home). Know what? It was amazing. My kind of running! 😅
I also managed daily yoga which I’m hoping to slot back into my life as I have missed it. I started YWA and running in the same year and one compliments the other I’m sure.
Washing machine has broken down and so has the expensive filter for my turtle tank. Can I go back to Brittany please? 😅
Good old ‘life back to normal’ I need to take a leaf out of your book and get back the regular yoga again. I feel your pain with the eating but I think yours has been much more sophisticated than ours, we have had some very ‘interesting’ eating experiences 🤣 All the best with the training 👍
So pleased that you have had such a lovely time away including running and yoga while on holiday, sounds like a mix between an excellent holiday, an exercise camp of some sort and a yoga retreat. Do they exist?
I'm intrigued that Brian said that he saw your amazing looking food. Where should I look to see it?
It was the best kind of holiday over61andstilltrying ! Running, dog walking, yoga and food, all in beautiful surroundings. 😍 Brian would have seen my foodie photos on Strava. Are you on it? 😀
Oh gosh there’s a question. Fresh seafood platter (oysters, lobster, crab and winkles), moules frites, freshly caught grilled sardines, fresh tuna steak …… you can tell we were near a small fishing port! Every meal was delicious - and of course we made full use of the boulangerie in the mornings for our fresh 🥖 and 🥐!
Your holiday sounds gorgeous CC. I've not had chance to look at strava in a few weeks so have missed your pics but I'm sure I would ha e been very envious! I too have eaten far too much and slipped a long way down the yoga ladder! I have another week of entertaining my father and then it's time for me to look at some some goals and boundaries - a mid-year reset!!! I should be on about week 6 or 7 of my plan by now so am rather envious of your NRC ticks too!!! Hey ho. 🤷♀️🙃🤔
Which reminds me! I’ve not entered my September HM yet! Doh 😖. I was not very well when I ran it last year so want to run it again to do it justice. It’s trail and sand dunes on a scenic route so looking forward to it
The weather here is somewhat cooler today, I’m heading out for a 16 km. the skies are ominous so I could get a drenching I was cutting hedges yesterday and am as stiff as a board so can’t wait to get moving 🏃♀️
Crikey, that sounds like a challenging HM!!! But a great opportunity for a course PB 😀Being in Ireland I have missed all the best/worst (depending on your perwonal taste) of the hot weather in the UK and it was positively pouring yesterday when we got back. On the bright side, the garden is growing well 😍
Hope you got a dry 16k and felt nicely loosened up afterwards 👍
I did thanks! I went further and did over 17 km plus a bit, forget what exactly. I had another hedge cutting session the day after and felt ok, which was a relief. I got drenched on my run but it was warm despite very windy at times
I’m dog walking today which helps loosen me up. Back to hedge cutting tomorrow ☹️
This morning I put my running gear on and started to walk up the road with high hopes of a little 5k…the first run for 3 weeks!
But, it wasn’t to be ☹️. I just couldn’t walk properly, my balance was off and there was a measure of photosensitivity in there too! Not as bad as last Thursday, but bad enough. I got a call back from the surgery, result being antibiotics to deal with a likely ear infection and different tablets to help my balance with the prescription going to the pharmacy today…the original balance tablets have photosensitivity as a possible side effect. So full marks to my GP….and my wait and weight go on !! Nice to be home and have Molly around to keep an eye on me 🙂
Everyone seems to have been on hols at the same time! I think I must have missed a post about Thursday. Hoping your time on the IC is not too long Beachcomber66 .
I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell BC. That's rotten when the ribs were just beginning to heal too. But maybe an extra few days will help them too and when you do hit the road again - and you will - then the reward will be worth the wait. Take care and feel much better very soon 🥰
Thanks Linda …..it was hitting the road which caused this problem in the first place . A chest plant!🙂
Early days, 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞but I have woken up feeling much better. It feels as though I am coming out of a 9 day vestibular migraine. Running injuries are a doddle compared to this……you know what they are and you can do daily exercises which make you feel as though you are on the road to improvement. This thing just lets up in its own sweet time! At least I have lost 3 pounds of holiday excess since Monday! Every☁️ 🙂
I walked to the cafe and back this morning, so Molly was happy. GP says running will take longer because balance is much more of an issue. Just chilling out post walk now … think I am turning into Molly!
Welcome home BC. Arghhh, so the run didn’t happen, but you’re in great knowledgable hands (and paws! 🐾) so you’ll be out when the time is right.
Bet it was lovely to see Molly! My cats were overjoyed to see me; one in particular who’s been under my feet or on my computer since we got back! He worships me! ❤️ I was going to add a photo, but still nothing doing it seems. 🙄
Sheila drove the three of us to the cafe for 2x coffee and 1x sausage; she has now gone to pharmacy leaving Molly in charge. Molly needs a bit of a grooming session. I don’t need to stand up to do that… probably calming for both of us, provided I don’t pull any knots ! 🐶🦴🌭
Oh I try very hard not to pull anything cc….Molly has a low threshold of pain, Aka being a bit of a wimp! I took over the grooming job in the first few weeks of Molly’s life precisely because she wouldn’t stand the amount of pulling around which our previous OES Storm tolerated very well. As the recently retired person in the household, I had more time on my hands so could take more time over it! I just appear with grooming tools in one hand and a biscuit in the other, and she lays down on her side and nods off while I work….I very rarely cause her to jump.
Hello Linda, I hope your leg problem clears up soon. After my rather hot 10k race, last weekend the weather cooled down dramatically. But all I could manage on Wednesday was 1.5k around the rose garden, and canoe lake and then parkrun on Saturday.
Today I did a trial parkrun route with UTS as we have to move from our spot in October, due to Coastal Defence work, but we judged it to be unsuitable on safety issues . I ran while videoing it, which is not easy, and was going far too fast because of you know who. There’s a lot of heavy breathing on the vid! I’ve got a busy week but will try to get out for a long run on Thursday or Friday.
Hello Dexy, I noticed your' 'all I could manage on' due to your hot 10k. I am still not at all back to where I was before my Duffield 5 race. Getting older! Recovery taking longer. Did you ever manage to listen to Run with Lopez?
Looking back at the 1.5k run , the temperature was still 21C , so I think a combination of heat and slow recovery. No I still haven’t had chance to listen to Lopez yet as I haven’t been out on my own for any length of time. A day at Hampton Court Flower Show tomorrow is probably not the best prep for a long run, so maybe Friday.
Oooh! HC. How lovely. I used to go every year with a friend and come home with armfuls of goodies. She's retiring this year, so maybe we can put it in our calendar for next year and revive our habit 😊
Just take your time with the runs Dexy .. no hurry. I haven't got round to reading race reports yet, but a hot race can take SO much out of you. I'm loving the sound of the video, but what a headache having to find a new route. Do you have other options to try out?
Hope you've survived your busy week on top of everything else!
Yes I’m hoping we can come up with a route which both the runners and the council are happy with. We are reluctant to leave the seafront but it may be necessary.
Oh my goodness! I'm very much in catch up mode here and have definitely missed something. I hope you are on the mend now and I'm sure it is wonderful to be home again. Do take care and feel much better very soon 😘💐
Hope by the time I’ve typed this you’re back home with your leg up on a plump cushion, a ten gallon tea pot 🫖☕️ and a ten pound box of chocs🍫 I’d get the tennis on 😘👍
Hi linda9389 , extra-big thanks for hosting, you know why!
I've moaned enough about my (non-)running on Strava so won't inflict any more on you here.
Strava's come in super-handy though for being able to tell my doctor exactly when it was I got bitten by a tick and possibly a spider as well! After two weeks of antihistamine and hydrocortisone treatment the splodge on my leg isn't going away, just varying its appearance. Both two pharmacists and my doctor suspect bacterial infection, query Lyme disease, so blood test for booked for tomorrow and antibiotics ready to be started post-test.
Very much hoping that all you lovely VRBs are having lots of running fun!
Sympathy Cmoi! We are entitled to a good old moan when the fickle finger of fate points in our direction. Pesky bugs…..and viruses in my case; a plague on them!! We just have to weather the storm. At least I am now getting some exercise…anti biotics have me “running” backwards and forwards.🙄
Thanks Beachcomber66 , that's kind of you. I'm sure I've more than used my good old moan quota! Bon courage for dealing with your bugs, viruses and drug side-effects, which don't sound like fun. Pharmacist told me photosensitivity is a side-effect of the antibiotics I've been prescribed. Since it's roughly 36 years since I last took antibiotics it's anybody's guess what else might happen!
Oh no Cmoi. That's no fun at all. Hopefully it's bacterial and the antibiotics will do their stuff and make a difference fast. Start filling your tummy with good bacteria ... you may well need it as well as the sunglasses! I hope it isn't spoiling your getaway xxx 🥰
Thanks linda9389 . We're now back from mini-hols, so at least it's local pharmacy and my regular GP. If it is Lyme disease it's been caught early, and if it isn't, hopefully the anti-biotics will clobber the splodge!
The getaway was more messed up by heavy rain smashing the motorhome awning. While it's only stuff, and we're fortunate enough to be able to afford to get it fixed, it's another thing for the to-do list.
Do vast quantities of raw milk local cheeses count towards good bacteria? If so, I'm sorted! xxx
Also, a 7k stroll ended with a bonus run-walk 4k for me (after a 5K run earlier that day) when my husband left his camera on a village bench. Got it back - walkers had found it!
Oh no. Not you as well Cmoi. I saw a program on ticks/Lyme disease last week. I didn’t realise they were so tiny. Impossible to see. Hope you get the right treatment soon, and get better.
Thanks Dexy5 . We're used to checking for and removing ticks, and it's not the first time I've been bitten by one. It's also entirely possible I got bitten or stung by something else as well. I've a long history of allergies and nasty reactions to bites, but this one is quite something even by my standards! As I mentioned above, I've been very fortunate to get super-quick treatment, so hopefully it'll fix things.
Hi Linda and everyone. I’m a bit late in my reply as we’ve had a manic week. Decorators in house, meeting friends…. but I have been able to get my runs in 🤗
I’m sorry that your leg is still not good Linda, that must be so frustrating. Just when we’re running along in a lovely routine and everything is going well, then WHAM! Something happens to scupper our plans.
My knees are still a bit achey but then I was reading my old notes from my Bristol HM training a few years ago (yes, I keep notes as well as stats 🙄) and noticed that my knees ached nearly after every run! I can’t remember that at all but I do remember that on the day I had zero pain or niggles so what’s that about? 🤷♀️
I did another 10K and am just sticking to this for a while and have started with strengthening exercises as I have let that slip. I have weak hips apparently so I’m working on that and hoping that will help the knees.
In other news, a friend has told me about a new found Thai massage lady who is wonderful so I might have to try that out 😎
Living round decorators is so disturbing isn't it. Hopefully they'll be out soon. I do think adrenaline is amazing for hiding niggly pain, especially during an event - maybe that's why you didn't feel your knees on the day? I didn't really feel my stress fracture until I was walking to the results tent and then out of the blue I could hardly bear any weight on that foot!
I'm absolutely sure I would benefit from regular strength work ... maybe when life quietens down in the next couple of weeks? Like Cheeky, I'd like to reintroduce daily yoga - but I've been thinking that for a while!
The Thai massage sounds like a must try, because you're worth it, right? 🥰
Hi Linda! Thanks for the thread. It’s sounds like you’re staying in a wonderful place. Enjoy! .
It’s been another great week on the HM plan. I’ve kept up the three runs a week. I’ve run 10k for the ⭐️second time since the injury and was properly emotional about it-more than the first time. I think it’s because it meant last week wasn’t a fluke! Physio review next week and I think that’ll be that last one I really need, although I might check in once more near the great north run just for a bit of reassurance. I’ve kept up the strength work which has been much easier now I’ve seen so many benefits in the runs too-it’s lovely comparing NRC runs with last time round and seeing I’m a fair bit quicker.
London ballot results tomorrow. I wonder who’ll be lucky!
That's amazing. I can imagine just how wonderful it feels to really believe again. Keep up the strength work (she says, somewhat hypocritically 🙈) Fingers crossed for the ballot 🤞
Thank you so much for the encouragement! Mentally, it’s been really tough not knowing how long this is going to go on for and setbacks have been miserable. Really exciting to finally be feeling like things are back to normal again…well, better than normal I suppose because hopefully the strength work will keep the IT band issues away. Legs are killing me after yesterday’s gym session. Keep telling myself it’s worth it!!!
Who knows what today with bring with the ballot. There’s always next year if it’s a no.
I’m really late with my contribution this week. I thought I had already done it but scrolling through I can’t see it.
Anyway, not much to say except training continues.
The other news is I’ve been demoted to 8th in the UK as in my previous efforts the wind was too strong 😞 The maximum is +2 and my runs were both +2.4 and +2.7.
I’m not that upset as I know I have it in my legs and I’m determined to improve. Just need the wind to behave at my next race.
While I'm sorry to hear you've dropped in the UK rankings RunBrianRun , I admire your reaction. Plus, while I have neither the desire nor the ability to compete at your level, the fact that the standards applied are so demanding and as objective as possible really appeals to me. May the wind drop next time you race!
Funny it’s exactly those rules and regulations that make it appealing for me too. Masters athletes are subject to the same scrutiny as any UKA/IAAF athlete and that includes random drug testing too
I’ve just done something silly and entered a full marathon (Manchester) next April. I guess I’ve got enough time to train for it, however although I’ve run a few halves I’ve never gone a step further as 13 miles is currently a struggle.
Wish me luck getting up to 26, I think I’ll be needing it 😂
Hi Linda - nice pic and sorry to hear about your leg.
I've also been having fun with a leg for the last few weeks and have only just got my head around it.
Been having weird sensations in the left leg. Comparing knees I could see the left was slightly swollen, so stopped running for a fortnight until the weird symptoms went away.
Then went out just for 2.5 km the other day and 12 hours later the leg got strange again.
A couple of mornings later it was still like that so I checked the knees - no problem - but then I noticed my left thigh was much wider than the right. Can't feel any swelling on the outside so it must be internal.
Consulting Dr Google I conclude it's either ITB strain (most likely) or quads strain, or both.
It doesn't hurt but when I walk downstairs it feels like something is running up inside my leg. The cause I believe is that when the upper leg muscles flex the leg is a bit too big for its skin!
So no running for the foreseeable. I'll wait until the swelling goes down and then start exercises and gradually extending fast walking. When that's been OK for a while then depending how much conditioning I've lost I plan to either start gentle jogging or start over and repeat C25K.
No problem really, or sadness, as I've put the energy I would use into running into another hobby which I also enjoy greatly (erm exploring new technology - I am ex software developer and total nerd!).
That sounds most disconcerting! Hopefully rest will do the trick but if not, then perhaps it's worth a visit to a GP or physio if you can.At least you have a positive and pragmatic attitude to the problem. Wishing you speedy healing and a quick recovery 🙏
