Well, we’ve got to kick off with the London Marathon! Did you watch it? I don’t know about you but once that music starts I always a feel a bit emotional. So many inspiring stories of incredible achievement. Some disappointments too of course ☹️
We had three amazing runners from our own little family here all running yesterday and we look forward to hearing all about their experiences. We’re super proud of them even completing the training in what was a pretty dire winter here in the UK and getting to the start line.
If you watched the coverage, was there something that stood out for you?
The elites were just remarkable. I love watching all the different running styles. Kelvin Kiptum set the record for the second fastest marathon time in history!A bit of marathon history right there for us to see. Incredible.
And what about Sifan Hassan? This was what stood out for me. How she came back from a hip problem at mile 15, fell behind the leaders and then went on to win the race! She clearly had an issue and kept stretching out her hip. The commentators, Steve Cram and Paula Radcliffe, were suggesting she should stop but she clearly listened to her body and it didn’t let her down. It was a wonderful moment when she picked up a bit of speed towards the end and overtook the leaders to burst through the tape. This was her first marathon and she had to train throughout Ramadan so she is clearly made of steel and iron!
But listening to her body was key, something I have still yet to master but am trying very hard 🙂
It was such a wonderful event 😍
Has it inspired you to enter the ballot for next year? Let us know.
Even if you didn’t watch the marathon tell us what you’ve been up to.
Whatever you’re planning for this week, running, resting, training or something else, have a great one.

The theme music of the London Marathon is by Ron Goodwin*originally for something else but now of course associated with the London Marathon, I watched it all on TV, there were many inspiring stories told by many runners taking part.
Hello Irishprincess , I just loved watching the London Marathon and, like you, find it really emotional. This year I also had the app on and was tracking 3 friends from parkrun . It really makes you realise how long the mere mortals are on that running journey.
Although I would love to be able to do the LM, the sensible me is stopping me from applying. I know how much training is required to run it and I would find it hard to dedicate that much time to it. Even if I could prepare, I would probably be doing it in well over 5 hours. Running for that length of time does not appeal to me at all.
I only discovered running at 60, 5 years ago, and I want to be able to run for as long as I can, and I think that restricting distance to 10 miles (if I run the GSR) and carrying on with the alternate rest days is a way of a achieving this. I love the atmosphere of races though and I so enjoy the 10k runs. The London Vitality 10000 gave me a small insight to the verve of the London Marathon and I just loved running up the Mall towards Buckingham Palace.
I wish I had discovered running earlier in my life, but it is thanks to c25k that I am doing it now. It was good to see it being promoted during the programme, although I think they should have shown runners of different ages , shapes and sizes in their ad.
You are only a bairn Dexy5. At your age, I hadn’t even started! You are dead right though(as always). The long term goal of “keep running” is paramount. No point is fizzing off and falling to the ground like a cheap firework rocket! Wishing you many many happy K’s.
How are you and Mrs BC doing ? Taking it nice and easy I hope. At least you don’t have to stay at home and can get a bit of isolated time outside, once you are up to it. Best wishes sent oop north.
Hi Dexy5. We are feeling very much better thanks. I have just finished a wrestling session with Molly (grooming!) and am about to start some gentle stretches and heel raises . Wednesday is our target day for getting outside whilst keeping our distance. Just knocking back some Zero (Pink Grapefruit) in an effort to remain hydrated. One of Jill’s PhD students is “Defending” her thesis this afternoon at 3pm (her time) 8pm here. She has sent a link so that we can look in. Apparently Molly is her final slide 🙂. So, plenty of distractions. 👍
I’m the same Dexy. In my head I’d love to do it but I’m not prepared to put the time into the training atm and I’m also very injury-prone so…. it’s a no from me for the time being.
Good morning IP. I didn’t watch the London Marathon, but just looking at that photograph brought back memories of that big race frisson. The air really crackles! Well done Sifan Hassan! I can understand the “I have done all the training so I am damn well going to finish” feeling….but from what I have read she hadn’t trained for that distance at all and had had a pre run panic! And then she won! Got to be a film in there.
On a much more trivial level, we are feeling much better and I am already feeling the urge to run. This experience of covid 19 is similar to the first. The first night was awful; I think that the vaccine primed defences in my body were locked in mortal combat with covid. Thankfully the vaccine won and I have picked up steadily since. To think I was talking about lifting some weights on Friday; delusional. First outing will be to take Molly to the cafe, but not today or tomorrow, after that we will see. I would hate to infect someone else when it can be avoided. Time to catch up on a bit of grooming….not her favourite activity, but it has to be done. Biscuit tin at the ready!
I’m glad you're feeling a bit better BC. Our friends who took it are still testing positive and she has had it for about two weeks now! But I think that is pretty unusual.
And yes, I immediately thought about a film in the making while watching Sifan struggle and then win! Great stuff.
I hope you and Molly have fun with the grooming and here’s to a nice wee jogette for you soon 🤞
Last time we had it we tested positive for 10 days. I think some of the current guidance is targeted at getting people back to work or school asap. I have seen stuff which suggests 5 days after symptoms start if you feel ok. The emphasis on testing has gone since our last bout.
I can always take Molly for a walk and sit in the open space not far from the cafe. They serve coffee to people sitting there so could be a good plan. Trying to keep my distance seems sensible, and considerate.
Hi IP, whenever I watch the LM it makes me want to take part all the more. The runners are so inspirational and I’m often reaching for the tissues! Just seeing everyone’s smiling faces is enough to get me going.
Can’t believe Kelvin Kiptum’s time, and as for Sifan Hassam, well she looked fresh as a daisy at the end. That sprint for the line! 😮😮😮😮
I think that when Sifan offered her water to another competitor it was a genuine generous act. I heard the word taunting somewhere; it just doesn’t fit.
C25K was promoted twice yesterday, around 9am and again about 12.30pm, there were several runners interviewed after the 9am promotion saying how C25K had got them into running and a healthier lifestyle, I took a note of their BIB No., later on the LM app I got their results, all of them completed the run in around 4 hours.
PS Irishprincess, I have just got back from running my 150th (not) parkrun, it was just 5K in a time of 33:31, some of my midweek runs are 8 or 10Ks and I use the 5K as a split but as 150 is a milestone number I only ran 5K this morning
I love London. Both sides of my family are from there & I was born there as was our first bubba. What a city & what an event.
I didn’t watch the marathon as it’s really difficult to watch it in Australia. I was keeping an eye on the results though.
I did think about the ballot but if a miracle occurred & I got in - it would mean being away from hubby on his birthday & I love him more than running London.
Hi RunWillie. What are the padlocks about ? Is this an Australian version of the locks left by lovers on a bridge over the Seine in Paris where the total weight was getting too heavy for safety?
There was a bridge in Bakewell that was covered in padlocks BC, and an ironmongers where you could buy them and get messages engraved. A very lucrative business it seems. I first saw it on Brooklyn Bridge NY.
One day maybe… I’m forever optimistic 🥰 Yes, that’s quite a video of him coming over the line as it’s getting dark, I hope he’s feeling very proud of himself. Funnily enough I went to London from Banbury because I could get an earlier train. There were a few runners there, I wonder if he was one of them 🤔
years ago, when I first dabbled with running ( a friend and I used to run 3 evenings a week if we could get respective hubbies to watch the kids and we entered the Bideford to Barnstaple Annual race which I didn’t realise at the time is HM distance. We did this 3 years in a row then she moved and I stopped running) I was about 49/50 and I toyed with the idea of one day running a Marathon.
Then over the years I half thought about the London Marathon and then dismissed it. Then I took up running again just before I retired, March 2018, and after completing C25k, then getting to 10k,then gradually building up and having one glorious summer of running in 2019, I toyed with the idea again….. then I ran a HM in the August and shouldn’t really as I wasn’t really prepared. I’d done several 12ks, then a couple of 14s, a 16, an 18… and then “ what a glorious day I just want run” and I ran to the next town and back. I only had about 200 mls of water with me and it was the end of August and mid day… and I ran continuously all the way for the 13.1 miles. Nearly passed out when I slowed to a walk and that was the beginning of my hip/ piriformis Issues. Which are still plaguing me even now so I think 10 miles is probably my furthest goal now and I stay mainly around 3 or 4 miles most runs.
However, our inspirational friend Louise Butcher ran the Virtual Marathon yesterday and we went down, and tracked her progress on the App, to cheer her on at mile 20 ( which was where she struggled last time ) armed with gels, water, glucose sweets but she sailed past us grinning like a loon and waved away all offers saying No I’m fine this time. She finished in 4 hours 46 which I’d be really happy with but she was a bit disappointed as she was hoping to get under the 4 hours to auto qualify for next year.
Where she inspired us was that last year she ran the Virtual Marathon 5 weeks after a double mastectomy and 3 days after her last bout of radiotherapy. This year she ran topless as she said people shouldn’t have to feel embarrassed about mastectomy scars. I ended up welling up and crying as she passed us as that girl just does not give up. She raised money for the charity Over and Above and her next project is a SkyDive.
She had her first tattoo recently of an Angel sitting with her head on her knees, which she said is her Guardian Angel. My daughter says “ I think she’s hanging her head thinking I saved your life and now the mad cow is going to jump out of a flipping airplane!!”
Hello IP and thank you for hosting the chat this week. I watched the London marathon in awe yesterday. Both men and women’s races. I was blown away by Kelvin Kiptum’s sprint to the line which I roughly calculated was as fast as my fastest ever 100 metres 🤯
I’m back in full swing with my training and I’m preparing hard for two events this may. I spent a tough hour with my sprint coach this morning followed by an even tougher 90 minutes in the gym. I’m going to take it easy today and tomorrow now before my club track session on Thursday evening. I might go out for a little run/jog/walk on Wednesday but only if I feel up to it.
I can’t get my get around the speed these elites run. It just beggars belief. How?
It sounds as if your training is going really well Brian. May will be an exciting time for you 🤗 and I’m really looking forward to reading all about your events.
Thank you IP. Training is spot on at the moment and I’m finally in a good place with injuries. I’m looking forward to the upcoming events. 3rd May and then a week in Cyprus before heading back for the Sussex Champs.
I was there... no not really... but like so many of us, at home... following RFC, when the App finally sorted, every step of her wonderful way... I was following another wonderful woman whom I met at my first Spitfire run... and she, despite an injury o=in the last few weeks, did well!
Little else achieved yesterday... but I did manage a first foray run, in two weeks, on Saturday. It was a true IP, jogette... but comfy and enjoyable.!
So... planning on a build back to the Virtual run in May... off to my other happy place on Friday for at least two blissful weeks and hopefully some good runs too !
I will be listening to my body... and hoping its messages stay positive... x
Hi Irishprincess , thanks for hosting, and hello to all you lovely VRBs!
No LM watching for me 😱 - different time zone, my husband watching football, my weekly Zoom catch-up with my brother in Australia, and actually going for a run myself meant that it didn't work time-wise. Plus, if I'm honest, watching marathons isn't really my thing, though I do get the emotion about the event.
Caught up with the odd bit of coverage and interviews later. Could totally relate to Sifan Hassan's comments as it was exactly how I felt on the morning of the Trail du Gévaudan: "I am so stupid, why I'm playing this kind of game, and I why the hell, who the hell l'm thinking that I want to run marathon... I was crying this morning, why I put this thing for myself, why I say I'm gonna run marathon. What is wrong with me?"
There is no way I'd ever enter the London marathon ballot as that sort of event is not my idea of fun, so why would I deprive someone else of the opportunity? As for my own running, I've still not got back to longer distances. My obsession with hills has taken over. I realised on Saturday I could exceed 1000m vertical for the week if I chose the right route, so despite a bit of rain, I went out and drew a Strava cat.
I can't claim any credit for the Strava cat design as it was pure accident the first time I drew it! It basically follows roads and tracks - run 1k down the road from our house to the main road through the forest, up that for 3k, turn off onto forest track for another 3k, then back on another road and track. Plus a couple of diversions for optional paws!
Problem with Strava art round here is that it has to be large-scale because of the terrain and the lack of roads. Basic Strava cat is 12k, with twiddly bits it's about 16k. I'll happily run through forests, but am not intentionally going to fling myself off roads down a 45° slope between pine trees without some semblance of a path!!
After the Trail du Gévaudan I wore my finisher t-shirt to walk back through the town to our car. Blatant showing-off - "I know it seems unlikely, but LOOK AT ME!" I was so scared and anxious on the morning of the event I could barely eat. No race magic whatsoever!
Come on Cmoi, surely you could fling yourself off a road in order to get some paws 😂 “purr purr” 🐈
I’m not surprised you wore your finisher shirt through the town. If it had been me, I think I would have worn it all week, everywhere I went with a huge big arrow pointing to the words ⬅️
If you did all that with no race magic just think what you could do with some ✨
I could probably do paw variations but the poor thing's doomed to remain feature-less and whisker-free Irishprincess !
Tbh the most magical part of the trail event was not having to cope with crowds, shouty people, blaring noise and loads of razmattazz. I know it works for most people. It just makes me want to run away and hide.
Might take my finisher t-shirt with me this weekend on the choir trip. Even if I don't get chance to run, I like the design, and we'll be at a different part of the Chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle, so it's kind of appropriate.
Yes I watched it and loved it! Sifan Hussan was incredible to see! As for entering....I may have clicked on enter the day before... in fact soon as the email came through ....then I thought derr you're booked to run one in October- that's not very sensible.... but hey ho it's so unlikely I'll get a place 🤣
I have managed a 10k run - good achievement after this run of virus's! This week 'pilates for runners' is running a free trial of her content - day one was good. I was just going to post about it in strength and flex but I'll put a link here to her website pilatesforrunners.co.uk/
Thanks for the link. I’ve not gone back to Pilates since I hurt my back last year. My osteopath told me that a few moves I was doing were not good for my back 😱 so I’m a bit hesitant now.
But generally, Pilates is a fab complement to running and is great for the core.
It is a little more stressy than yoga I'm finding! Pushing the boundaries rather than find what feels good.... but it's definitely a good work out! I quite like having a mix of things!
Hi IP! I was determined to be part of the action even if I couldn’t run it, so I was part of the Fordy Runs Cheer Squad, making a lot of noise at mile 18 by Canary Wharf tube station. It was flippin’ freezing but the first person in our team had gone and nabbed a prime spot under the railway bridge so at least we were fairly dry.
It was a fabulous position, as you can see from the photos. Unfortunately I didn’t get Sifan Hassan but I did get Kiptum. I wish I’d taken a photo of Marcel Hug, the men’s wheelchair winner, but I was so gobsmacked by his speed that I just watched him open mouthed as he went by and completely forgot to take a photo!
I spent most of the time shouting names and blowing whistles, trying to spot people I knew and taking some very bad photos of Katnap’s running club mates 🤣. We got a lovely smile from Richard Whitehead, the paralympian, as he bounced by on his blades and I saw Vassos Alexander hiding in his Minion costume.
The Cheer Squad were great, they really are extremely loud! Many of them were the famous penguins from the Winter 10k earlier on in the year. Each time a Fordy Runner came past, everyone within earshot definitely knew about it! It was good to meet some of them in person as everyone, like on this forum, is spread far and wide.
I managed about 4-5 hours before I just got too cold and damp. I kept telling myself off because the runners had gone through all the winter training and were now having to run in it, but I also had to remember that I had work in the morning and if I was to carry on running I needed to make sure my back didn’t go into spasm from shivering too much! So I quietly left and warmed up in the underground shopping area under Canary Wharf, eating my late lunch and trying not to be deafened by the alert that went off on everyone’s phones at 3pm 🤣
So next year, I will definitely be back, one way or the other, either spectator, volunteer or...you never know...
Have a good week everyone 😀
Lead elite men and women at the London Marathon and a bigger picture of Mo Farah
Nope, I’ve found a little video and you can see my hair but I’m swamped by the two very loud, pink girls next to me as well as the barrier going up to my chin 😂
Just fantstic... you are the most loopy, wonderful, amazing person !!!!
I have this image of you in all the places... beetling around and snapping all the runners... and fingers in ears when the phones went off! Just great!
What fabulous photos TC! Ooh I’m sure the atmosphere was superb. I’m amazed you got any photos because they are just so fast. I still can’t get my head around how fast these elites are.
People turn up whatever the weather don't they?I said to my husband, “it must be cold because Gabby Logan was wearing a woolly hat!”
Well done to you for doing your bit and facing the cold and rain. Did it bring back memories from last year? I bet you were itching to be on the other side of the line again 🙂
Thanks IP. It was tricky taking the photos - youngest kitten broke my camera ages back and my phone hasn’t got the best camera on it but it did an alright job. The lady next to me had brilliant kit and her photos were superb (she was taking them for Bliss).
That noise brings so many memories back! I have to keep reminding myself it was only 6 months ago! Tbh, I was quite happy just watching but I have an itch to scratch as my time was rubbish and I know I can do better now I’ve spent all that time just taking the atmosphere in (that scratch is itched!). Ballot entry is in, as Katnap’s 🤩
I watched all the marathon coverage, like you the music makes me all emotional!🤣Kenny was singing the tune the night before!!! 6 of my club mates were competing plus other friends,my tracker kept me busy! Just read RFC's report,we met at the LWR back in 2015,lovely lady! 😁I've entered the ballot! Well last week was my best running week for a while,so hopefully onwards an upwards ! Tuesday Nighters club,3 miles, weds night trail, 5 muddy miles(pub afterwards!),Thurs night iwrr club awayday to the seafront 5 miles (v blustery!!! Pub after again -35 turned up!) Then our Southsea Parkrun adventure on Saturday!
I was lucky enough to be there. It was drizzling-to-hard rain before the off but honestly the crowd was upbeat and lively. No complaints from anyone. After months training alone, pounding the Kentish back streets, it's easy to forget that I belong to this awesome community of runners. When I rocked up in Blackheath, I was reminded of my place in life, and it's with this motley crew of inspiring people. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I was lucky enough to get a ballot place this year and I entered for the ballot for 2024 whilst queuing for the off on Sunday.
For those that think the race is too congested, I can say from experience they've changed the start for the better. The staggered starts meant you didn't have a mile long bun fight at the start. Military organisation.
I suppose you could say it’s been a recovery week for me! I’m home from hospital and have been out for a few gentle shuffles.
Unlike last time, I don’t feel any different to how I was before my primary pump had a supply problem. It’s going to be frustrating watching my fitness dwindle because I can’t exercise however, I have a mindset to recover properly so that I have a solid base on which to build fitness.
Regarding London, it doesn’t have any more appeal to me than any other marathon. In Newport, there are long stretches running through the countryside with no spectators and I’m fine with that. Something I did like was, a little past half way, I made some noise to draw the attention of one of the photographers then did a jump. Looking at the photos afterwards, I seem to have put similes on the faces of some of the runners behind me which was nice. As for London, I think I’ll take the approach adopted by Cmoi and avoid taking up a place that’s likely to be more appreciated by someone else.
Wishing you a full recovery SkiMonday , and patience to deal with the frustration. I can imagine the hospital was a bit taken aback by the circumstances in which you presented, and I do hope they've given you a positive way forward.
Thanks Cmoi. At one point, I looked through my folder. There's one field for something like "mobility". Whoever has filed it in wrote "ran Marathon" 😎
Although I can't fault the medical treatment, communication wasn't so good. I've been given no guidance so far and, when we spoke on Monday, my GP hadn't received any notes from the hospital. I'm going to give it a few more days then start chasing this up.
Really appreciate the update SkiMonday , and hope the hospital communication improves and you get the info/support you need to optimise your recovery soon.
I missed it as I was at a kid’s party 🎂 so only caught a few bits of it on the news.
I decided to belatedly run a half marathon yesterday. I’d completed my NRC plan for a spring half which got kyboshed due to hurting my back. The opportunity to get out for a long run presented itself so I decided to go for it, I only went slowly and I managed it ok
Afterwards though things got strange, I had my lunch immediately as I got back, plus a cup milky strong coffee. I had a bath but I came over faint as I was getting out. I did faint! I laid on the bathroom floor for a while waiting to recover. I got into bed and just slept for about an hour or so.
After that I was just fine. I think it was dehydration! Stupidly I went without a drink!
yeah I thought of that too 🤔. It was blowing so cold out there on the exposed bit of the trail 🥶 so maybe the bath was hotter than usual 🛁
I feel ok today so I’m off out for a short spin 🏃♀️ Got some gardening to do this afto. I was in there yesterday but it still felt chilly despite my layers 🙄
Oh blimey mw, it’s so difficult running in this weather at the moment, it really gives you a false sense of security when it comes to hydration. I hope you’ve recovered ok 😟
yes I’m fine now thanks 🙂👍. School girl error 🙄☺️ I didn’t take a drink as I couldn’t be bothered to carry it.
As I ran round I wondered why I’d not used my hydration pack.Doh 🙈 I generally just use its front holders for two x 500ml bottles rather than the bladder. A litre would have been ample as it was a chilly day
I was out with the old dog for ages yesterday, just pottering slowly about. No wind thank goodness, and it felt less cold than of late. Things could be on the turn 🤞😀
I’m running in a minute, and so far so good. It’s not raining, it’s not windy either 🤗🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I’ve not worn my shorts once this year. Mind you I might not get in them as I’ve piled on the pounds 🙄🙈😬
It’s definitely warming up (touches wood!) - I was in shorts and short sleeved top today and I was sweating at the end of my run. It’s even sunny at the moment! Here’s to summer and getting rid of those pounds me 👍
I was overdressed yesterday but it felt cold when I set off ☺️ Mind you my nearest trail is always much colder than anywhere else as it’s so exposed 🥶💨
The sun is out today but I’ve got the old dog back again for the next three days so it’s just walkies for us 🙂🐕. We cover ground but oh so slowly these days, which is very nice actually 🙂👌
Ok, I was put on limited release today! Molly, Mrs BC and I went for a sunshine blessed walk to the cafe this morning. I sat outside at a fixed table far away from anyone and slurped down a flat white “to go” and guzzled carrot cake. There was a moment when a dog owner we know looked like getting a bit close; I warned him off…but he said that he had just recovered last week! There is “a lot of it about” in our neck of the woods.
It was such a relief to get out and give my legs some exercise; they were beginning to ache with lack of activity. I feel absolutely fine. My peak flow is good, so my breathing is ok; maybe I am ready for a half hour steady recovery run in the morning to see how all moving parts are feeling!
Just to cap things off, a Goldcrest flew down to say “hello”. Propitious!
Hopefully this is the end of that unwelcome episode.
Thanks IP. When I got home, I found that my quads and hamstrings were really tight, so bad that I couldn’t do a simple standing quad stretch. Much roller work later, things are better and those stretches are quite easy again. I will have to keep on top of the stretching for a while I think. Slow and not too far running wise until I feel everything is working ok again will be the key I think. Back to the rule for older people with injuries; they are like horses, they need to be back on their feet as quickly as possible!
Haha what’s the definition of “older” nowadays though? There’s also that saying, “they shoot horses, don’t they?” 😳
But you’re right, we have to keep on top of it all. Use it or lose it springs to mind. But muscles tighten up so quickly.
Talking about tight muscles, I’ve just got back from a sports massage. I’ve been having a few shin problems despite new shoes and I haven’t run since Saturday’s 14K. My shins were very tight, as I indicated, very loudly, to my therapist 😩
I might try a wee jogette tomorrow to test things. But there’s always something 🙄
I am happy to confess to being a bit “older” at 71; shooting me might be seen by some as being a bit harsh, although I have had a long time in which to make enemies, so there may be a number of volunteers for the job 😂.
Going for a sports massage is an option if this tightness becomes a continuing problem. Resuming swimming next week should help. We will see what the next few days bring. Hope your problem clears up too. We have been through this stuff before and if loads of determination combined with a bit physio is enough to sort it, we will be fine.
Me me me!! London Baby! I grew up roaming around all the first part of the marathon, it runs past the top of the street where my parents live, past the bus stop where my grandparents used to catch the bus to go shopping, we used to have some sports on Blackheath with my secondary school, kite flying on Blackheath on a Sunday, I used to buy my lunch down by the Cutty Sark and go round Greenwich Market, dancing at Rotherhithe & Bermondsey, I had my first date ever on Blackheath (we didn't have much money), I went to University on the Strand and used to wander round central London between courses sometimes.....it would be totally cool to run that and see it from a different point of view! The memories that would bring back!
The thought of running with all those people scares the **** out of me, I'm not very tall (5ft 2.25" - the quarter of an inch makes me taller than my sister so it has been much argued over when we were younger!) and being in crowds is scary for me. I think, health being good, that the training would be fine, it would take me over 5 hours, possibly over 6, but that would be ok.
When the marathon started in London we would watch tv until it got near the top of our street and then run up the road to watch the runners go past - every year, rain or shine, the dog came too! It was a great natter with the neighbours and cheering everyone on.
I still watch every year but on TV now, my parents still wander up to watch a few go past, but they can't stand for hours up there now. It would be great to be able to be cheered on by them - I'm sure my dad would bring the deck chairs to wait for me
backintime, you’ll be fine! You’re more than 2 inches taller than me and I managed. Just think of how many steps you’ll be able to show off that you’ve done with your quicker cadence (I did >70k 😂). You have a brilliant reason to be part of the runners, I think those of us with London written on our birth certificates should be given an extra ballot entry to make up for the fact that most of us can’t afford to live there anymore!
