Calling all HUHM & 10K Spring 2023 participants and VRBS - the HUHM & 10K playlist π΅ and soundtrack π§ need you!
To accompany you and your VRBs as you head around your chosen HUHM & 10K Spring 2023 route, weβre putting together two audio features:
π§ A RunGo soundtrack based on the Vancouver HM, to enable you to experience that fabulous city virtually. Even better, Β Β linda9389 is hoping to test this out and tweak it for you during her forthcoming Canadian trip β yes, really! So, to make the soundtrack a truly unique HU experience, weβd like you to provide some shortβnβsnappy motivational soundbites, whether silly or serious, to include. Please PM Linda with your ideas as soon as possible, so she can get creating. Chat messages only, please, to keep the motivational magic a surprise for the day!
π΅ A Spotify playlist, which weβre aiming to base on your suggestions. This will be compiled by Β Cmoi ably aided and abetted byΒ Β TailChaser . Please send them your suggestions either by replying to this post, or by sending a chat message. Itβll help loads if you can provide the names of the tunes and the artists performing, and if possible, Spotify links. The tracks donβt have to be running-themed, just music that you like to run to. Feel free, too, to suggest more than one song.
Both the RunGo soundtrack and Spotify playlist are free and can be used together, independently or not at all β the choice is yours!
So please get your thinking caps on, then get PMβing and/or replying β weβre looking forward to hearing from you!

This may be cheating but Iβm going to kick this off as itβs oh so quiet in here (wasnβt that a Bjork song?). Here in the UK I think we could all do with some Mr Blue Sky by ELO at the moment π
I like When the going gets tough- Billy Ocean. We are the champions- Queen. And of course the theme from Chariots of Fire - Vangelisβ¦.but there are just so many to choose from!!!
If weβre having Chariots of Fire then weβll also need the London Marathon theme, The Trap, by Ron Goodwin. They both cause the hairs on the back of my neck to prickle π
So would you like it adding to the HUHM10K playlist Β Dexy5 ? Sorry, my brain's a bit fried at the moment, and I'm getting confused as to what's a request for tracks to include and what's not!
I played Darts with Kate back in the day - just prior to Wuthering Heights and her career taking off Don't tell her I said thing - but she is certainly a better singer/songwriter than a Darts player LOL
I used to play a LOT of Darts from about '76 to '83. Can't really say I know much about the scene nowadays but from what little I've seen it's gone way too flash for my taste. Bobby George started the trend I guess - but missing the sheer Class the likes of Stefan Lord, Bill Lennard, even Jocky Wilson...solid Players In my book, John Lowe was the greatest Dartsman ever - the likes of Eric Bristow played great, but JL was great
Mind you, Kate has packed on a few pounds since those days - maybe I ought to chat to her about starting C25K
Titanium takes me straight back to when I was teaching some particularly challenging agricultural school students. I'd use it in class as a treat for them, thinking all the while "This is my theme song with you guys!"
I like keeping it nice and easy these days. I listened to some recommended fast beat playlist during an early parkrun and was terrified when I saw the way my heart had been racing afterwards π€£.
A nice easy one from me would be Piano man - Billy Joel.
Thatβs just parkrun though, when you get carried away by the crowd. You could try fooling your heartbeat by listening to something gentler but keeping the pace up. I wonder if that would work π€ I might try that on Saturday!
Great choice Freecloud, another classic, consider it added π
Found it! It was a playlist called run "n" Bass. This was in the early days after doing the run to the beat thing from C25k app. I never listen to fast stuff running anymore, I usually have it playing in the background whilst playing NRC. Thanks T C.
Baba OβRiley is always on my playlist. Flat piece of ground for when the instrumental bit arrives πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈππππππ
Dire Straits: Sultans of Swingβ¦T.Rex: Get it Onβ¦Bruce Springsteen: Born to Runβ¦Bob Seger: Hollywood Nightsβ¦ Steely Dan: Reeling in the Yearsβ¦Stephen Stills: Love the One Youβre Withβ¦Creedance Clearwater Revival: Up Around the Bendβ¦
May I add Blinding Lights by The Weekend? They played live at the SuperBowl a few years ago and it rocked. Itβs on my running playlist and always perks me right up. π
My taste in running music is from the epic genre, big orchestral pieces, which I appreciate is not everyoneβs cup of tea but I do have non-epic pieces on my playlist. This is my current favourite.
βBack To Youβ by Lost Frequencies, Elley DuhΔ & X Ambassadors
Other favs are:
βWake Me Upβ by Avicii
βTuskβ by Fleetwood Mac ( a perfect 180 BPM)
βCheap Thrillsβ by Sia feat Sean Paul
βBad Moon Risingβ by Creedence Clearwater Revival
βCan You Feel Itβ by The Jacksons
βGlitter and Goldβ by Barns Courtney
These always perk me up and I usually sing along to them too π
Iβm not on Spotify, so canβt give you the links, sorry.
