Being my first ever race, I was very nervous this morning, but I neednβt have been. It was well organised and everyone was lovely. I did wonder how Iβd get on among thousands of other runners, as I am very much used to solo country runs, but honestly, I had a blast!
There was a massive band playing at the beginning on a big stage, whipping everyone up into a frenzy. My right knee hasnβt been too happy with me the last few days what with getting here and walking miles yesterday, so I decided that hand waving would suffice as I didnβt want to do some funny dance move and end up injured before Iβd even started! But it held up well, even though there were lots of cobbles to run over.
It was such a treat to see some great Paris sights without any traffic and lots of people and music cheering us on. The race village just at the back of the Eiffel Tower had some great music, food, and stalls, and everyone was having a good time.
I hope everyone has had some great runs and races today. πππ

thank you so much Oldfloss , I had a blast. Legs are tired I have to say. My friendβs joining me tomorrow so Iβll have to hope they get a second wind! π
Ah thank you as always, Ian π. Tell you what though, Iβm really pleased I brought my foam roller! Back in the day that space in my bag would have had heels and dancing the night away outfits! Now itβs all running gubbins π€£.
Thank you so much Sparky Caroline! It was great fun. Legs are stiff though π€£. My partner is going home tomorrow and my friend is getting the Eurostar over to stay with me until Wednesday, so I see even more stiff walking legs in the near future π. Hope you are well!
Have a wonderful time sightseeing with your friend π.. your walk tomorrow will help ease the stiffness.. and if not im sure a few glasses of wine π· will help β¨π₯β¨π₯β¨
I've managed to run again regularly in past two weeks got to 8K yesterday with no nonsense from my footπ so hopefully get back to my usual distance soon π€
Thatβs great news about your foot, I am pleased to hear that! Definitely walking will help the stiffness - just had a massive stretch-a-thon on the floor too π€£.
Fantastic that you enjoyed it so much Frenc! Somehow I had missed that this was your first organised event π. Going to Parisfor it was even braver! Congratulations and massive well done πππ
Lol yes, I kept saying to myself why didnβt I choose something down the road from me! It was quite a faff picking my bib up the day before but once Iβd worked it out I felt a lot calmer about the whole thing. I had read lots of previous race reports about not setting off too fast so they all stood me in good stead! πππ
Ah thank you misswobble ! And I didnβt have too many wobbles π. Once I was running, I just enjoyed the experience. And I am very proud of my first bling!
π± You wonβt be the first Frenc - Iβve witnessed forgotten sports bra, water bottle and tailwind amongst my VRBs. It might have added to your expenses getting new shoes!
What an environment to choose for a first race! I have a friend who lived in the 7th. The atmosphere was really special, as was the dining!! I am not sure I like the idea of running on cobblesβ¦but you made it! Excellent bling too. Well done for taking this on and succeeding!! ππππππ₯π
Thanks for the heads up Dexy5. Obviously I will have to cancelβ¦.not! I am sure that it will be ok; I will just take that stretch carefully. Nearly all of my running is on trails and full of lumps and bumps so my ankles are pretty strong. The part of our High Street where the market is held is cobbled β¦.maybe I can get in some training when it is quiet!
