Hi roseabi I'm taking part in the Vitality London 10,000 on 2nd May 2022. I expect there will be quite a turnout from Health Unlocked, so it should be great fun! ππββοΈGood luck everyone taking part in any events in May, let's get out there and smash it!
Hi Roseabi, I intend to run The London Vitality Virtual 10,000 on the 4th of May around my usual route where I run most of my 5K and 10K runs, good luck to everyone who are taking part either in London or virtually elsewhere.
I'm running a 10km in Nice, France on the 22 May. Hoping it wont be too hot and my training will be sufficient by then!! Good luck to everyone else running their events in May.
Helloi roseabi, UpTheStanley and I will be joining the throng at the London 10000 on 2nd May. There will be a HU representative in practically every wave on that day. vitalitylondon10000.co.uk/
We have also signed up for a 10k in Battersea Park on 18 May, organised by the Civil Service Sports Council to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Will UTS be the fastest 70+ there? We shall find out. π
Another 3 here for the Vitality 10k on 2nd May roseabi π This will be a family affair as Iβll be running with, not only Katnap but also youngest kitten! π₯³π₯³π₯³
Gulp! Iβve the Edinburgh Marathon coming up on 29th May. There, Iβve said it!! Itβs my first attempt at the full. Nerves are starting to build along with a little bit of paranoia about every niggle whilst training. But itβs exciting nonetheless!
Iβm running the London Vitality 10000 on May 2nd too roseabi. So are Sandie1961 and Shake-and-run (in case they donβt see this) as well as those whoβve already mentioned it above! Canβt wait
Hi Roseann. Iβm running a 10k at RunGatwick along with several colleagues. We are running for SASH Charity which is our employers charity which improves our patients and staff experiences. Itβs on May 8 so hopefully the weather will be kind πββοΈπ
Another one here for the London Vitality 10k on 2nd May. Canβt wait!! Iβve opted to be in the last wave as I suspect my time will not be fast. Itβs 8 days after my first ever actual race (Southampton 10k) and 2 days after my daughterβs wedding! Exciting times
Looking at the replies, I feel that I should be running the London Vitality but no; Iβm running Milton Keynes Marathon on 2nd May. This will be my 4th Marathon and Iβm confident about getting round. As for a PB, well, that would be good; letβs see what happens on the day!
Incidentally, any thoughts on pacing? Iβve tended to aim for a comfortable pace which means that I maintain the same pace for about ΒΎ of the distance then my pace drops off towards the end (seems thatβs typical for a Marathon). For the last 300m or so I can usually draw on my remaining energy to pick up the pace a bit. Looking at HR data (from a chest strap on my last one) itβs pretty steady all the way through (except for the final push). Iβve searched for tips about this but havenβt found anything so far.
I guess another option would be to latch on to a pacer then try and pick it up a bit for the last few k.
Gotcha! Actually I'm doing the MK marathon too, but with where I am right now I'm definitely not hoping for a PB π
I haven't nailed pacing for a marathon yet, I tend to go off too fast! Reading your words I'd think maybe you could try starting off a bit easier for the first 10k or so (that's your warm up), and then build up. And yes catch a pacer if you can bear it! MK is good for the final push - stadium finish ftw!!!!!!! πππ
Thought I'd seen you mention this a while ago. Any interest in meeting up for a photo beforehand? I've no idea yet as to what the pre-race arrangements are for MK.
Thanks for the pacing advice; I like the idea of a 10k warm up.
Another Vitality 10,000 here on 2nd may - will be my first real race, having done the first virtual one in 2020. Iβm in the white wave ! (Slowest !) but now thereβs a #runforukraine wave behind me so I guess theyβll catch up and Iβll be in blue and yellow company!
I've signed up for the Hairy Haggis Team Relay at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on 29th May! I'm doing the 5.5 mile leg.
I've had some ups and downs with running of late but I'm on track to get back to that distance. The aim is just to run and enjoy - it will be very slow.
Now got an extra one; the Reverse Rett 10k ( webscorer.com/register?race... ) at Archerfield Walled Garden just outside North Berwick on Sunday 15th. So that's me now doing 5k, 10k and HM in May.
Hi, I think now Iβve recovered from the SDW50, Iβm focusing on future events. Both these have been in the diary since 2020, when they were deferred due to Covid.
This weekend I will be taking part in the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend. 3 races over 3 days Sat/Sun/Mon where the distance adds up to 26.2 miles
Sat, 10 Miles in East Grinstead
Sun, 10 Miles in Haywards Heath
Mon, 10k in Burgess Hill
Then 2 weeks later I am taking part in the Green Belt Relay - 220 miles around London over 2 days. A team of 11 runners do a leg each, approx 10 miles each, on both days. Thereβs about 45 teams taking part, we have 3 teams from our running club. A fun weekend with lots of socialising, drinking and of course running π€£
Maybe unwise to be putting it out there but I'm entered in the Virtual London Vitality 10,000. My bib arrived in the post today π± and I'm more than slightly worried as I'm still a ways off that distance since starting running again after my back injury last year, but let's see.Not sure when (if?) I'll go for it but my original aim was May 8th
Hi roseabi Iβm doing the Milton Keynes HM on 2nd May. I see youβre doing the main event. Have a great run. I hope Iβll be back in the stadium before youπ€£π€£ But Iβm not convinced!!
I was reading the post and wishing everyone well for their racing and then well remembered I technically have a race next weekend. 8th May Marsworth 10km. There is tea and cake at the end and luckily with my current fitness level, it's a distance I can walk...
We've got the Newchurch 9km next Sunday 22nd May, mainly cycle track and forest it's a really nice social fundraiser will a brilliant raffle afterwards!!! eventrac.co.uk/e/the-newchu...
