This morning Sandie1961 , TailChaser , Shake-and-run and I and headed out for Burghley after a lovely chitchatty (is that a word?) evening at Sandie’s (thanks so much hosting us all Sandie 🥰). It was wonderful to catch up, and of course we were all so excited to run today.

The race was an unusual distance - 7 miles - designed to make the most of the pretty town of Stamford (where people were cheering and waving from their windows) - and of course the Burghley estate with its glorious house. 😍

I have a bone to pick with Lincolnshire though - I thought you were flat!! Not on this route it wasn’t. 90m of elevation, most of which was into a headwind! 🥵 💨

Even so, I was happy with my performance taking into account the distinct lack of serious training recently, and came in at 1:28:12 - 7 seconds quicker than Garmin which I’ll happily accept! The others were all quicker than me (no surprise there), and we were all happy campers when we collected our chunky bling, which of course is the sole reason for running these races! 😅🏅❤️

It’s so lovely to be back racing again, and the next one will be a big VRB meetup in May at the Vitality 10000 in London! Bring it on. 👏👏

Yes, you’d have eaten this course for breakfast Cmoi! Mere mortals who haven’t trained much (🙋‍♀️) definitely felt it though! 😅

Thanks AlMorr ! I was overjoyed with my time bearing in mind I’ve been very lax with my running since the Bath Half was postponed. My mojo simply upped and went with the disappointment. 😅 But now it’s back, and seeing friends certainly helped. 🥰

I have a sneaky feeling that if there’d been no race, or a shorter race, or a later in the day race, we might well have sported hangovers IP! But as Sandie said, we were very sensible people! 😇

It was such fun and it made up for the disappointment of Bath - which we still have to look forward to! 👏👏👏

Glad to see that that everything went to plan and the weather was kind. Also that the socialising last night didn’t get in the way of the running ability! I was definitely there in spirit with you this morning. Is that where the Burghley horse trials took place?

It was lovely to be back racing Dexy. A cheeky wind and a decent never ending hill made it ‘interesting’, but it was fabulous. As you know, running with friends is the icing on the 🎂

There was a hill HH, a very steady climb at the back of the estate, but then there was a walloping great downhill at about mile 6 that was an amazing amount of fun!

We did get a heads-up about the hill from a fellow runner, but it was still rather nasty, and seemingly never ending! But we all had a blast and we made peace with it! 😅
