This morning Sandie1961 , TailChaser , Shake-and-run and I and headed out for Burghley after a lovely chitchatty (is that a word?) evening at Sandieβs (thanks so much hosting us all Sandie π₯°). It was wonderful to catch up, and of course we were all so excited to run today.
The race was an unusual distance - 7 miles - designed to make the most of the pretty town of Stamford (where people were cheering and waving from their windows) - and of course the Burghley estate with its glorious house. π
I have a bone to pick with Lincolnshire though - I thought you were flat!! Not on this route it wasnβt. 90m of elevation, most of which was into a headwind! π₯΅ π¨
Even so, I was happy with my performance taking into account the distinct lack of serious training recently, and came in at 1:28:12 - 7 seconds quicker than Garmin which Iβll happily accept! The others were all quicker than me (no surprise there), and we were all happy campers when we collected our chunky bling, which of course is the sole reason for running these races! π π β€οΈ
Itβs so lovely to be back racing again, and the next one will be a big VRB meetup in May at the Vitality 10000 in London! Bring it on. ππ
