I’m just sitting here contemplating whether or not to sign up to the full Edinburgh marathon in 2022. So thanks for the reminder I’d already signed up to the fabulous HU virtual event this autumn. I’m building back my running from a small overtraining injury so I don’t think I’ll manage the half on the day itself, but I should manage the 10k. I’ll try and do the half by the cut off date. Thanks for organising!
Oooh, Edinburgh full sounds like a great goal for 2022!I'll put you down for both the half and the 10k, but don't feel any pressure if you aren't ready for the half - nurse that injury til it's better 😊
But count me in for the 10k! I’m consolidating the 10ks just now and today ran my 7th 10k! So I should be running a 10k every weekend, so that should work very well for my plans!
I'm planning to do "only" 10 miles next Sunday and the HM again along with you all on the 14th. I might not start at 9.30am, though.
I've done two HM distance runs so far (Sun 12 Sep and Mon 25 Oct).
If it goes well, my plan is to extend to 24km on the following Sunday and a MM the Sunday after that. Now I've said it, something's bound to come up and put a spanner in the works.
Great. The 10k was underplayed in the first announcement as there is unlikely to be a new Rungo soundtrack for it ... we'll see, but time is against me at the moment! The original Edinburgh 10k track will be available again though.
Exciting Linda. I’m still in for the HM and I’m curious how my Jeffing effort is going to go! The common is sogging up nicely so I’m mighty pleased I’m not intending to run the lot.
I’m having fun playing with MyPaceCalculator..com trying to work out my run/walk intervals! Next I need to see if I can work out how to programme them into my watch. 😅
Oh I’m not Cantstopmenow , but my ridiculous FOMO means I want to join in with the HUHM. I swore I’d never do a HM on the common again after the two I ran up there last March as it’s seriously hard work (🥵), so I thought I’d give Jeffing a go out of curiosity. I’m looking forward to it! 😀
Hi Linda, I’m not doing this as it’s bang in the middle of my 10K training and there are no long runs involved and no 10Ks that week ☹️ so I’ll give it a miss.
I will think about some tunes though. Might not be everyone’s taste but I love my big, epic orchestral pieces as I find them so motivating. I’ll have a look for some of the best ones….
But off the top of my head, from my non-epic playlist:
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising
Avicii - Wake Me Up
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters - (slow, but does it for me 🙂)
The Moody Blues - The Voice
One Republic - Love Runs Out
Rick Ashley - Pray With Me (it works!)
Sia - Cheap Thrills
I’ve just re-read this and it’s quite an eclectic list!
I like eclectic! I thought the last playlist (Spring half) was brilliant as it had stuff I wouldn't usually listen to but loved.... in fact I just loved it all because it was such a brilliant half marathon experience!
As promised, here are a few of my favourite big, epic pieces. I went out today and had a fab run fighting off a few baddies and generally saving the world 💪 😂
I think I'm going to play safe and stick to 10k as I just haven't been managing to get out for longer runs. I only managed this week because it was half term. Thank you for arranging this linda9389 , I really really loved the last one and was hoping to be ready for this one! My music suggestions.... Avicii 'levels' (radio edit), ' Adagio for strings' -Tiesto, 'Hey boy, hey girl' The Chemical Brothers, 'Starlight' The Superman lovers, 'Starry eyed' Ellie Golding.
I'm pretty sure I signed up for the hm, but I haven't trained for it so I'll transfer to the 10k please. I enjoyed the last hm playlist, so I'll probably stick with that.
Just a quick question, but if you entered for the 10K, is it also ok if you run 12K for example? Just asking for a friend, haha. No I have just made up a plan and should run 12K that weekend. 😊
