Hi there lovely runners and racers. We have another fab weekend of racing and cheering ahead of us!!! Grab those pom poms and get ready to shake.
As always, if you're racing this weekend and I've missed you, do let us know and I will add you to our cheer list!!!
On Saturday we have Week7 who is running the Beyond Badminton Trail HM.
On Sunday we have STrongFuse who is hoping to tackle the Scottish Half Marathon (fingers crossed your back is easing SF) and we have cheekychipmunks and Irishprincess who will be out for the Great Bristol Half bling (once they've finished the all important business of saying hello and having a good natter, that is!)
... aannnddd we also have SueKen in the Regency 10k, Forest_Run_Beginner in the Bristol 10k and skysue16 (trying to remain uninjured) in a trail 10k canicross race!!!
... plus our bestest poetess Oldfloss in the Race For Life 5K at Caernarfon - good luck, lady!!! π
... also Sandraj39 in the Run Reigate 10K - go Sandra!!!!
.... finally we have a whole running on Sunday as part of the Guinness World Record attempt for the most runners running a remote 10k (tagged by CBDB in the comment below)
The very best of luck to all our racers and recird-breaking runners - have a great one and don't forget to mentally compose those race reports when the going gets tough, we'll be waiting to hear all about it.
Have a great weekend everyone - happy running to those who can and, as always, patience and sympathy to those who can't!!!

Aww thanks for the shout out Linda, and good luck fellow racers! Excitement ramping up now that Iβve done my final training run before the big day. π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
Good luck to everyone running a race this weekend, I really hope you enjoy it
linda9389 , I will also be running in Bristol on Sunday, but just the 10K for me this time. It would have been my first running event last year, and the reason I started C25K in the first place, so I felt I needed to do it this year instead. It will actually still be my first real event, as all the other ones I had entered prior have also been cancelled or postponed, so please wish me luck, I'm a little nervous π±
Thank you so much π I'm just hoping I don't go off too fast and end up tiring myself out before I get half way. I'm concentrating on the bling though, I know that will get me through ππ
Thank you, I hope you really enjoy the Half too π
I hadn't realised there were bands and music and things (so naive!), and am now wondering if I'll need my music! I've never run without it before π¬ππ€·ββοΈ
Oh yes! Lots of bands along the route and the spectator support is brilliant too! Although it might be a little different this year. But Iβm hoping as itβs the centre of Bristol there will still be loads of people around. It all helps along the way π
I never take my music for races as I like to get fully immersed in the atmosphere but for the quieter sections you might want it.
Thank you, I think I will take it and I can always turn it down, or off, if I don't need it. I use Aftershokz so will still be able to hear everything, hopefully. Thank you again π
I have mine with me for races. Bands and crowd cheers are usually loud enough to be heard over my music, but it's easy enoufh to pause with aftershokz!!!
Thanks Linda and everyone for the pom-poms π All the training is done and now all I have to do is resist the temptation to work in the gardenβ¦. NO, just NO!!!
Iβll just have to adopt an Edwardian Lady pose and potter
Your weeds will still be there on Monday, albeit with a few more to join them! I shall drive very carefully I promise. I know the hairy bits and how to tackle them - itβs all about the angles! π
Thank goodness for that! Edwardian Lady didn't make it but Alan Titchmarsh did and I ended up in the garden cutting back! But enough now. Iβm going to finish and rest and ask Mr IP to feed me frozen grapes until Sunday ππ
Thanks for the support to Linda and the Pompom crew.I have to confess to feeling a little nervous but excited too. Unfortunately they have had to change the route of the Badminton Trail run due to ash dieback so I don't think the route will be quite as initially advertised ( fast and fairly flat) . But it will be an experience and I'm really looking forward to putting the training into practice in such a lovely setting ( regretting those odd missed runs in the early weeks of training a little now!). I have no speed aims at all. My aim is to complete the run including the promised 2k of muddy bits! .
Good luck to the Scottish and Bristol crews on Sunday!
Theyβve cut down loads of Ash trees on Badminton. Iβm not sure about the muddy bits as itβs been quite dry but maybe they will hose down an area!
Hi Linda, best of luck to everyone running in an event this weekend - have fun ππSquiggy and me are doing our very first Canicross event!! 10k trail run - I am hoping it is not too hilly (up and down!) and that I do NOT fall over - cannot risk injury so close to my HM π¬
How exciting-good luck! I'll think of you being pulled through the maid by Sqiggy as I slide through the mud myself. Hopefully my little old ball of fluff will be at the finish line waiting to meet me.Does Squiggy (I love that name) get bling for finishing?
No, I donβt think he will get a medal. It is a local event organised by a village to raise funds - more of a fun run really, well hopefully it will be fun π. Squiggy or Mr Squiggs was called Squiggles in his first home because he has a brown squiggle on his back!
Does the Guiness World Record attempt at most runners running a remote 10k count? Not quite a physical race but possibly Pom Pom worthy? πPeople that i think that have signed up are:
Thanks everyone..looking forward to tomorrow...One small 5K for Oldfloss one giant leap in the Quest against Cancer...(If everyone turns up to run ;)Happy runs everyone !
Oh, Iβm a little late checking in! Hope todayβs runs went well and good luck to everyone for tomorrow! Iβm also running tomorrow in the Run Reigate 10k - and despite a few nerves am really excited to be going to my first live event since before the pandemic! π¬ππ€
Well, safe to say, my back twinges eased and I romped home in the final furlong (literally as the finish was on Musselburgh Racecourse) to shave six minutes off my previous best time and finish in 1:59:06. How long it'll be before my legs forgive me is anyone's guess, but my back is pretty much fine again.
