Just a quickie (promise!) π I wouldnβt normally post about an everyday run, but Iβve just completed my first one for nearly 2 weeks. No walks allowed either due to self isolating, so I took todayβs run super slow and took W1R1 and my beloved MJ along for company. I jogged/jogged a bit faster!
Result? An βeffortlessβ 5k run at an average pace of 8:17, and I could have gone on and on. But Iβm good, so I didnβt! π
I realise Iβve been very very fortunate with my case of covid, and many arenβt as lucky. Iβm hoping my running fitness helped. Who knows? Iβd like to think it did. β€οΈ
Happy healthy running everyone. π₯°

Great news CC, you had us all worried! I am sure that the underlying fitness was a big help. Being a cautious old buffer I would still take things easy for a while! Not a time for pb runs! π§π»
Thanks so much BC. You know me, I need no excuse to revert to bimbling snail mode, so yes Iβll take your advice and do just that for a week or so! Come on snails, youβre needed ....... π π π
It was so lovely grabbing my car keys and telling Flossie yes, we really were going out Dexy! It was a lovely morning too, although Iβd have gone out whatever the weather!
I had no idea what to expect, as since starting C25K Iβve had virtually no break and have run 3+ times per week almost without fail. Iβm happy with how it went, and yes, covid doesnβt appeared to have affected me. π₯°

How lovely! This will bring a glow to many today. Very well done on this run because you've deserved to experience this feeling once again. Great experience at the end in keeping it where you did. Longer runs will come and this is a brilliant, brilliant marker πππ
I suspect the enforced break did help Katnap. Not that I fancy another! I am going to take it easy for another week or two as I certainly donβt consider myself invincible! π
Thanks Jonathan. Ummmm , well yesterday I thought they were returning, but they deminished as the day went on and theyβre not great today. However guidance says to expect it to take a while to return, so Iβm going to continue eating tasty food and imagining it! π
So pleased that you are much better and you enjoyed your run today, as you say 'your running fitness helped', lovely photo of Flossie your dog on a misty morning.
Thanks so much BBR. I think I was remarkably fortunate and Iβm not taking that for granted. Iβll continue slow runs for a while yet (any excuse!) π€£
Welcome back to the happy world of running Cheekychipmunks! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ Glad youβre able to get out there againππ
Thanks Sask, I absolutely canβt wait for my senses of taste and smell to return! I thought they had yesterday - but today theyβre awol again. π€·ββοΈ
Ugh, to not taste would be tough. I hope it doesn't take too long, but it sounds like in some, it can take months. Fingers crossed for you to have a quick return. Given you've had some improvement (fleeting as it may have been) hopefully it will be back sooner rather than later π€
So pleased to read this cheekychipmunks. Excellent! πππΈπββοΈπ Well excellent as far as the running goes. Here's to your sense of taste and smell returning for part two of the excellence. How good will food taste after a period of no taste?
I'm beginning to long for my first post fall run. Next physio appointment on November 23rd, so no running until at least then, that will be 3Β½ months since my fall. I am thinking of ringing in and asking if I could cycle as it isn't so high impact and might be allowed.
Youβve been out for a long time havenβt you? I have no idea how that must feel, and I can imagine you going a bit stir crazy. Hopefully your physio will ok cycling. Surely thatβll be ok as itβs definitely no impact. π€π€ for a good appointment on the 23rd. π₯°
Hi again and Dexy5 , decided to ring in and leave a message for my physio and I was delighted to receive a phone call not long afterwards. Yes to cycling but no to hills. Oh dear! It is all hilly here. I shall push my bike up the hills. Hooray! For something to build a bit of stamina back up. π΄ββοΈ Here I come!π Oh boo! Rain forecast all day tomorrow!π§
Ahh thatβs fantastic news over61! Youβll get fit pushing your bike up your hills! At least you can get out and about. Shame about the rainy forecast though - think youβll still go anyway? π² π π¦
Aww thanks ST, all good now, just waiting for my senses to come back. That will be amazing! The run felt great though and Iβm looking forward to the next one on Sunday. π₯°
Woohoo, welcome back Cheeky ππ So glad to hear that you have come through it so well. A very happy Flossie too no doubt. A slow (not) parkrun to follow?
Thanks Sandie! Yes, both Flossie and I had a blast! Sheβd missed it too. πΎβ€οΈ
Iβm counting todayβs as (Not) PR I think. It wasnβt the same course as usual as I incorporated some of the hills. Iβd like to log a time this week and I donβt think I should run tomorrow. Hey at least I should get a better time next weekend! π
Thanks W&S, yes Iβm hoping thatβs the case because it bodes well for all us runners hopefully. It was such a lovely morning and the mist was magical. It then lifted and there was bright sunshine. π βοΈ
Just the perfect time for a run, donβt push too hard for a week or so but enjoy running, we have a colleague with covid and heβs not too bad and feeling guilty being off work but he canβt come near us now until he gets a negative test so i left him some tests on his doorstep today
I really am, thanks aliboo. I just did a trial perfume spray and I can definitely smell it today. Not very strong, but Iβll take that as a win! ππ»π₯°
Hi CC. Very pleased to know that you are getting better. Hope you feel good and strong again. Thatβs a lovely picture. Makes me want to run somewhere scenic too.
Thanks Cmoi, yes the mist had just started lifting and part way through my run the sun came out. Lucky I had my sunglasses on my head just in case! π
Aww thanks BF! Yes weβre both very very happy to be back out and about again. Did my 3rd run this morning, a lovely 7k. It was meant to be 5 or 6k at the most, but all felt good! π π
Brilliant, a good 7k is the best indicator that you're well on the mend! I'm also slowly getting back out there after a couple of weeks on the IC. Only 3k for me yesterday but it did feel good, just hoping my foot holds up π€π€
