Hi, recently i have been running in asics gel nimbus 22 and have been having nothing but leg problems since using them 1st tendonitis in left leg then shin splints ,now heel and shin pain in right leg , i find the shoes very spongy and am considering buying a firmer pair the drop is 10mm in these dont know if it would make any difference on trying another neutral shoe with less bounce and less heel drop any ideas on what type of running shoes as an alternative, previously i used to just run in whatever trainers i happened to have but thought as i am going to be doing the running a lot more often thought it would be a good idea to get a proper pair of running shoes, i had my gait checked in runners need shop and these were the shoes they suggested . i dont know if its the shoes or something else only been doing small runs and drills as indicated by the garmin coach app. any thoughts please . many thanks .

I'm not sure I can help - but how annoying for you. Have you tried going back to the shop to see what they suggest?
Tried them on in shop on their treadmill but only for 5 mins. Purchased online from same company but as they are now used my only option is to sell on ebay , but with the way things are just now can't get into any shops to try on alternatives so just taking things easy on a pair of old everyday Adidas alphabounce.
In normal circumstances it is always worth contacting the running shop if you have been advised by them and then purchased from them. Brooks for example do a 90 day return period however much you have worn them, if you bought the shoes directly from Brooks (and many running shops can make the same offer on Brooks). I've never bought Asics or from Runners Need, so don't know their specific policies.
It will be interesting to see if things improve with the everyday shoes you are wearing now. Personally, I would still give Runners Need a call and explain that you are unhappy having been advised in store and ended up with all these pains. Got to be worth a try!
I agree with Linda, it's a bit of a coincidence GB. They sound a lot different to what you are used to. Have you tried using your old trainers for a week and see if you still get the pains?
This happened to me. My feet just aren't suited to Asics. I had a pair of Gel Nimbus, but after a few weeks of running and lots of pain, I had to give up. No returns policies here in Norway, unfortunately. I switched back to Saucony, which I had used in the past. The Triumph ISO saw me through the London Marathon and a few more seasons. Right now I'm running in a pair of Brooks Ghost (mostly because that's what was available to me at the time). So I'd recommend either one. Only thing about the Brooks is that they accumulate more pebbles underfoot than the Saucony, which really bugs me, as I guess I'm particularly sensitive to that.
