Today I decided to do my L O N G run in preparation for my HM at the end of March. And I'm shocked at how amazingly well I felt at the end of it! I planned a route that was just over 11 miles (18+km) from my final destination and then got my husband to drive me out into the Peak District and drop me off. From there I would run to the center of Sheffield to be picked up by my husband again π
I've done this 'being dropped off in the middle of nowhere' running quite a few times now and absolutely love it! The first time felt a bit strange (more for my husband) but he got used to it very quickly π€ but today was a little bit strange knowing that this is the furthest away from home he's ever left me π³
The weather was howling a gale, it was snowing and a bit cold when I got out of the car, but the scenery is so beautiful that I just focused on that. I also kept looking at the incredibly high peaks of the Peak District and thanked my luck stars that I wasn't running up one of them! β¨π
The first 4 miles of my run were very much up hill! The hills were my friends during my C25K journey π€£ The other 7 miles of my run were relatively easier with just minor undulations π
So with my park run and my run today I am currently 5th on the leader board for our Team in the VitalityRunningWorldCup ππ (probably not for long though π)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy Running everyone! xxx

L O N G run today and well done on being Number 5 on the Vitality World Running Cup Healthunlocked team list, lol I am down at number 49, dropping from 16th place yesterday, Team GB π¬π§ is third overall in the world list.
The run felt in the main quite easy!? But I did take it easy steady all the way! It took 2 hours 15 mins and I fast walked about half a mile through a busy shopping area π
I'm sure I won't be in 5th position for long! π€£
Yes thanks, its all well for me, I am not sure how the listing on the Vitality World Running Cup Healthunlocked team page will change after this Saturday, apparently it is round 1, so the total kilometers for all the teams will be taken into consideration, after this Saturday will runners have to run a certain distance or a certain time limit, i. e, sub 30 minutes 5Ks to keep in the competition, not sure about that.
As far as I'm aware the next round is pretty much the same as this one... Run 3k in under 30 minutes and all the other kilometres you run after that keep adding onto your total? I'm sure it will all become apparent soon π€£
ππΌππ Sounds like a lovely run. And well done on being so far up the table. Very encouraging for those of us who canβt get our (in my case short) runs to register but still want the team to do well. βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Fantastic run, and really interesting way to do it by being dropped off!. You're so close to the HM distance now. I have a feeling that some of the people ahead of you are having their distance doubled due to tracking issues, so you may even be ahead of 5th position π
I did 10k on Saturday, and have just a 6k and a 3k this week. I'll see how I feel, but that will probably do me. I definitely benefit from fresh legs for a race.
