Prosecco Run - and Remembering others

About three months ago, I had the idea of organising a 5k Prosecco Run for Christmas. It would be a community fundraiser.

I thought it would be a local, and low key event, just for our runners and maybe those in the vicinity. Having drawn up the route, (which includes a prosecco/noshecco stop enroute), I put it up on-line.

100 places were sold within a week!

Yesterday, I walked/ran the route so I could mark out the course, and put up the start/finish points. Halfway round is this tree. It is decorated every year in memory of a young man, (Stephen), who sadly, took his own life three years ago. Stephen was a frequent walker/runner along this route. He was also a talented musician.

So now, I've hit in the idea of asking the runners to take an ornament to place on "Stephens tree" in memory of him or other loved ones. And we will play his favourite music at the Prosecco stop.

We have a fun run with a purpose - fundraising for the community, and a memory tree to place something for Stephen and others. Isn't it interesting how things come together from the most random of ideas!

Well done Teresa, what a lovely thing to do to raise money for charity, and a great to decorate Stephen’s tree as you run along.
