All looks a lot better without me in it! Running LLHM on Sunday with my son, a first HM for us both. Whatever else happens, we've raised almost ยฃ950 for Mind so we're very happy with that. Also happy to have found my lost capris as the weather looks like it will be very pleasant.
Wonder if I should clean my shoes before Sunday ? ๐

Can't get much liquid in the flipbelt - I have the 150ml bottle and I may take it as a security blanket, but with 4 water stations on this course I don't think I really need it. The belt is really comfy though and I usually stuff it with tissues, phone, cliff blocks (and the bottle on shorter runs) For longer training runs I have been using a hydration pack but I'm not keen really.
Yay! Loving the pink and blue! Are those knee supports? That's an amazing amount you and your son have raised for Mind, well done you two! ๐ Only 5 sleeps to go.. How exciting! ๐ค
One's a knee support, the other is a quad support. The massage guy is going to tape both on Friday so the supports are probably overkill, but anything for peace of mind! In theory I have another HM in three weeks, so I don't want to aggravate anything if I can help it! Did you get a sports massage booked? Mine was brutal yesterday and I did think of you
Glad to hear you've taken a good pummelling! ๐ I think I've decided to stick with the stretches and tennis ball massages, as mine is more of a niggle than an injury. I feel a little bit uneasy about it though - I could well change my mind! ๐ค I will have a chat with one of my doggy-walking customers tomorrow, he does sports massage. I didn't really want to ask him to massage my butt cheek but I may have to brave it!!
Another HM in 3 weeks?! You are a sucker for punishment!
To be fair we've raised that between us and it certainly hasn't been difficult ๐
I have three kids aged 23, 20 and 18. All three have lost friends in their year group to suicide ๐ฅ. My son donated ยฃ100 himself. I loved what he wrote on his fundraising page and hope that this generation marks a real change in the whole stigma surrounding mental health, especially for young people โคโคโค
Oohhh hilly twin skins, nice! , yep definitely leave those shoes....medals on them already ๐โโ๏ธ๐, youโre both going to be fabulous, go you ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช
Wow! That's a fantastic amount for a very special charity, Linda! ๐๐ Well done to both of you and I hope all goes well at the weekend. We will all be waving our virtual pom poms in the air for you both, here!
You are clearly going to look the part too btw!๐
This has made my day!!! You are very organised...Iโm not sure if Iโm excited or terrified!! Worse now..is it all in my head that everything seems hard work..๐๐ Run well..see you there!! X
Haha. If you'd seen me yesterday emptying all my drawers, throwing running stuff everywhere - how did I end up with so much? - you'd have thought I was anything BUT organised! It's definitely all in your head, you will be fine - the atmosphere on the day will make it seem easy (it will, won't it? ๐). Post a #flatfunfree and I'll know who I'm looking out for
Good luck. I still haven't sorted my kit. It is Thursday job with packing a bag for hotel.
Raised some money for a friend trying to buy bionic legs. Nervous about this weekend but I can still break my leg abseiling down the Spinnaker on Saturday
It was abi and mutley's pics that got me thinking about what to wear. I'm currently studying maps trying to work out how to get there, what to do with my bag and how to meet family at the end! Logistics planning with 13000 people in an unknown area isn't easy and is probably the bit I'm most nervous about at this point! At least I don't have to worry about a hotel this time - I'm driving close early Sunday morning.
That sounds like a great fundraising cause. You really do have an action packed weekend lined up - stay safe and good luck
I am in a hotel near by (Victoria). Can't get train in time on a Sunday unfortunately. If you want to read more about Lucy, look up Lucy's Legs on just giving. She is a really canny lass with an amazing attitude.
Boyfriends brother and wife are meeting me at the finish. I am letting him sort out the logistics. I just need to get there on time and with everything ready
I used to game with a really nice lad called Muttley, because of his laugh back in the day's when I had time to play world of tanks.
Nerves are settling in especially as so un prepared. But we will survive
Wow. What a strong lady. She has raised a huge amount of money already, with the help of so many people. It must be really satisfying to be fundraising for such a personal cause. Rather puts our fears of a Half Marathon into perspective doesn't it!
Fantastic Linda, I have excited butterflies for you ๐ฆ ๐ฆ Youโll both nail the run though! Will you run the whole way together? ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Fabulous fund raising for a very very good cause. ๐๐๐โค๏ธ
Thanks Cheeky. Sadly no, we won't run together. He will start with me but that's it! He'll most likely be a good half hour into his beer by the time I make it to the pub!
Small matter of logistics to sort - 13000 people in London to navigate - that's the bit that concerns me most (well, after the question of how to nip to the loo right before I start running ). But yes, still excited even though it's now #4sleeps
Loving the #flatlinda pic - hope to do mine Friday when I've finished faffing about exactly what to wear ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
I'm really sorry about your kids friends - a very sad reminder of how important our mental health is. I'm taking part in a charity concert later in the year for Mind. That's an impressive amount of money the two of you have raised!
Look forward to your pic ๐. Good luck with your charity concert too - it's great that Mind features in so many people's fundraising efforts theae days. All positive steps ๐
I'd like to say that's the way I roll ... but actually I think maybe I'm just a prude as I consciously laid the runderwear and shock absorber just out of shot ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Those shoes are a Serious Runner's shoes, leave them be! Dust and splashes mean that your feet mean business ๐ช I love looking at people's shoes on the way round, I like to try to find my shoe brothers and sisters, and if I get an actual shoe twin I say hello.
That's an incredible amount of money you have raised, and as I'm sure everyone knows my own motivation too (me? Banging on about something? Never!). Mental health awareness is such a huge thing--society has stitched itself up a little, but the more we all talk, addressing stigma and misconception with openness, the more we can hopefully tip the balance. โฅ
Lovely way to set out for your HM Race Linda. Well done on raising so much for Mind. Iโm sure youโll enjoy your day with your son. Have a great one!
