Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion π
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Well, I completely failed to go out for my planned long run on Saturday! Arg, this time of year is just so hectic. I'm longing for that post-Christmas lull everyone always complains about...hope you've all been having more luck than me fitting everything in! It's brilliant to see so many half marathon plan runs popping up on Strava, so I know some of you definitely have π
Have a great week, and enjoy those runs π

Ran 10-5-10-5k last week. 21-5-21-5k planned for this week. I'm just aiming to maintain fitness and weight loss at the moment, so joggy jog Jogs only. Will think about a marathon/speedster plan after Xmas. Sub 2hr HM and 4:30:00 marathon are my targets for next year. Also getting down closer to 70Kg as new year's weight loss resolution too. Cutting back on the IPA (beer) is really proving to be hard, especially as I feel I`ve earned it after a good long run!
Half marathon training is going well, despite the super-windy weather constantly trying to hurl me back the way I've run π Christmas shopping not so much...
Love the photo! I took one, exactly like that, when in South Africa - the ostrich matched the bus we were in at ~40mph!!
I did my longest run ever on Sunday - 9 miles!! feet hurt today, but so worth it Feeling good on my prospects for my first half in January... Just need to ensure I keep it up this week as I am travelling abroad for work - hope legs keep OK in the long flight....
When you`re a kid you start counting down sleeps from mid November...Later in life it's suddenly 2 shopping days until Xmas and you haven't done a damn thing yet! I did ask Lady Lordi what she wanted for Xmas yesterday and she said "Oh nothing this year"... Now is that a real "nothing" or the standard "nothing" i.e. "something" but "something" that's really "nothing" much? My daughter on the other hand said she'd send me the complete list (which is more concerning).
It's certainly not nothing nothing! You'd better get something I dance this dance every year with my missus and always opt for a something nothing...just saying
I am having the same dilemma with Mr Sqkr! Apparently he just wants to have a 'nice sit down' for Christmas. π€ I don't think I can take this literally, can I.
The running birds are great! Maybe the Roadrunner next? π
Was harder to get back to it this morn. 5k in just now. That is all the plan asked for today. It is a bit overcast and cold but not freezing today. In other news, Chickadees seem to think our Christmas lights are pinecones, driving our cat bonkers.
Getting into my HM plan. Enjoyed long run off the beaten track yesterday. Today I am trying Runner's Yoga with Adrienne off YouTube - hope she is gentle with me! Easy run tomorrow at the crack of dawn (well that's the plan!), hill session on Thursday and another long run on Saturday - route tbc but will be somewhere off-road and scenic π Hope we have a few dry days, rain is ok but not too many days in a row! π§ππ¦
It was good, some really deep stretches in there. Mainly concentrating on the legs, which is good for runners of course, but I think I'll go for a longer whole-body one next time. This would be a good one to do post run.
Started week 5 of my HM plan for early Feb. I know I can run the distance - having done it before but want to improve my time, so am following a plan again, but this time a more advanced one. Last week was probably my highest mileage so far with a total of 54k - all went ok given the weather has not been that great and made some of the runs quite tough with the wind and hills combined! Just taken delivery of some New Balance Trail shoes so am looking forward to testing them out this week π
Into the second week of the HM programme. Enjoying trying to run to a pace more than I thought I would. Not looking forward to the strength exercises but going to submit to them.
Good luck with the strength exercises! Remember you can adapt them to your preference - add exercises you like and ditch the ones you hate. They might not be as bad as you think - I quite enjoyed mine last time! (Did I just say that?!) πͺπͺπͺ
Having completed my marathon plan last week I thought Iβd have a go at the ASICS Pace Challenge, available on the freebie Runkeepergo app. Iβve done the βstridesβ and the βshort fartleksβ, and yesterday was βprogressionsβ, which I managed to mess up βΊοΈ Never mind, I did them out on the muddy trail and had fun. Up next are the 400 m repeatsβ, so itβs off to the park for these as it says you need to be on the flat. That should make a pleasant change. After that come the βladder fartleksβ π€·ββοΈ? And then a final 5k run
Then itβs on to training for my upcoming ten mile race ππββοΈ
Christmas can't possibly be so soon. It's still sunny out there, and really not that cold either! Just had a gorgeous 10 mile easy run under blue skies. This weather makes it so much easier to stick to a new HM plan - cold enough, warm enough, dry enough, bright enough ... no excuses. But prepping for Christmas? just can't get into that at all despite all the decs being up now
I was just introduced by the producer to someone else as 'a chip munching marathon runner with cake in her veins'. So marathon runner might be pushing it a bit, but I like that I'm giving off that vibe π
Injury hiatus, so only a 5k run and 23k hike this week. Same shoes and same socks for the last 1200km and only 5k run Monday but I got flesh wound heel blisters on both heels! How does that even happen? Still, gives me more time for Xmas shopping β¬β¬β¬β¬
Hi all! One week to go until we fly to the UK for our Xmas holiday, so of course work is bonkers. At least I'm up to 2 runs a week now. Last week I also threw in two strength training sessions, but they really threw my hip out whack, so I've stuck to running and walking this week.
We had snow last week, so parkrun was cancelled, due to the uneven conditions. I'm really crossing my fingers that conditions are stable enough for it to go ahead tomorrow, as I'm planning to run.
