My husband got me this huge container of Haribo Tangfastics π
I'm sorry to say that the Autumn Speed Challenge has reached its conclusion.
But if anyone still has a result from last week to post, please do so in the comments below!
Thank you to everyone who took part, it's been great, and so have you!!
And thank you to everyone who posted about theirrunning watches last week. Garmin was the only brand mentioned, and the Garmin 235 was popular with a number of you.
I'll post later this week with more on that, and of course the final RESULTS OF THE CHALLENGE!!!
O they look lush, what a lovely hubby you have. I have failed miserably in this challenge so I will aim to make up for it by Christmas... ( hopefully)!!
I have no stopping point when it comes to sweets. I just eat them until there are no more left, be it a mini bag or a big cash and carry tub. Shameful. π½ The challenge has been great though, it's lovely to see all those rising lines on the graph π
I buy a small bag and it lasts me ages. I take six hariboβs with me I darenβt have any more π¬π. I value my teef I have other food on board π
Sorry to hear you've been ill - hope you're feeling better!?
You were fab, and yes there will be another speed challenge early next year. I'm calling it the Winter challenge since we have now had Spring, Summer, and Autumn speed challenges - so this will complete the set π
Well done Oldfloss, sorry you hit the IC but glad you are out again now You were improving rapidly there, congrats on the PB and many more to come it looks like.
Hi Roseabi thankyou for doing this, I did run last week and forgot to enter it on here which is just like me. I did 5k in 21:11 on my route strava.com/activities/19247...
Absolutely no problem if it is too late, well done everyone!!!!!!
Hey Roseabi π I completely forgot I was even in this challenge. I completed 5K with a PB of 28:32. Can't work out How to share Strava link, but here's the Relive link...
Interesting! I gather that the 235 can be set to buzz if your pace drops and/or gets too quick. This is pacing, effectively - what does the virtual pacer do?
You can download a virtual pacer to the 235 from ConnectIQ, there are loads of apps and such there, I keep meaning to do that. You can set buzzy pace alerts manually, but presumably this one adjusts on the fly for distance and goal?
I did actually try this although i didn't post my results, I did the maidstone Half in 2hrs 7 minutes not bad for a hilly course and no really that much training.
Then the following week i took a flat course along the river and managed 20km's in 1hr 50 Minutes, i couldn't do the extra 1km due to being late all ready to pick me son up. But failing a major disaster i would have completed my goal of a half under 2hrs! Then the final weekend i was away with the family and running took a back seat!
Oh and i guess i am the odd one on running watches as i have Suunto Spartan (which i love) so blah to all you garmin lovers
Well, it's accurate more accurate than my friends Garmin and the HR is pretty accurate as well not as good a chest strap but good enough for me. Its easy to use, it does all the normal stuff cadence, vo2 Max, recovery and it can put routes on it (only gives a line of where to go) but still it helps me but most of all it does triathlons, open water swimming, cycling power meters, and cadence sensors and better value than the Garmin tri watches.
This is a tri watch so will do all the 235 stuff, but with better cycling, swimming open and pool. It will also do multi sports events without start stopping
Thanks again Abi for the speed challenge. I really enjoyed it - I think itβs made me focus on more consistent pace. I usually go out too fast and just hang on!
I got out on Monday in two minds about whether to run 10km or hm... which is usually a right turn or left turn decision in the park. I left it to my feet to decide and they plumped for right, and a longer run. Iβd only run 21km once before and this time felt much easier as I knew vaguely what pace to keep to. I made it out and back in 1h51m30s; must admit I felt the distance in my calves the next day though.
If anyone spots any Black Friday bargains on running watches, would they mind letting us know? Iβd like to pass a recommendation on to Santa.
