Who's heard of Kelly Roberts, the somewhat unusual professional athlete, body-positive champion, and social media star?
She's just launched another "BQ or Bust" series on YouTube, and I'm finding it a lot of fun, and very inspiring.
For those who don't know, to "BQ" is to qualify for the Boston Marathon (the American one). Kelly is making another attempt (she's been close but no cigar) to run a marathon in under 3:30 for a place at Boston. Check her out here:
Oooh thatβs interesting! I have a book all about Boston marathon qualifying times and how to achieve them. It was given to me at WW class by a lady who has run all the worldβs famous marathons. Itβs a book of stats, split into age groups. I hate stats but even I read it . I was encouraged to think that I could give it a whirl if ever I was in that area π Sigh π€¨
I hope she gets a place. Good luck to her πͺππββοΈ
I thought about it too, sounded like a fun challenge - although I thought I might wait til I'm past 50 cos it's easier then But it's ridiculously expensive if you don't live locally - even then the entry fee for US residents is $185. The international fee is $250!!! And then there's travel and accommodation and blah blah...
For someone Kelly's age trying to BQ seems like it could be a bad thing, people get kind of obsessed with it, and it's really hard! But I reckon she's got it in her
