Decision... help!

simonwilliamstutor profile image

I have the chance of doing another parkrun tomorrow morning. Alternatively I have my Two Castles 10k Run coming up in 6 weeks and I could do a 10k around town instead. Which should I go for? My 10k run would involve some hills (like the race) but I would push myself more at parkrun...  help!!!

Can't you combine both by running to parkrun or do a run after or do parkrun tomorrow and 10k sunday.

I try and get the parkrun in there as they are fun!

Morning  simonwilliamstutor  there are so many options - if I couldn't get out for a long slow run on Sunday I would probably park a mile or so away, jog to parkrun timing it as near to 9am as poss, aim for a good 5k, and jog back to pick up the car.

Have just posted an article on running hills which You could read with your Sunday morning cuppa if you can't get out😊

Go to parkrun. Don't stop at the finish (apart from to get your barcode scanned) and then loop back to the start and repeat the parkrun for a 2nd time. You'll miss your hills, but the first 5K done at parkrun pace should make up for them. You could always try going to a hilly parkrun, of course.

I think I'm gonna do parkrun tomorrow and then try a gentle 10k on Sunday.  I generally don't feel too bad the day after a 5k so I should be OK, having not run since Wednesday. Thanks everyone!

Do the Parkrun course twice! Simples!

5k PB at parkrun this morning... officially 24:12. Well chuffed with that. Really tried to focus on maintaining a 5min pace over the first 4km and then I had plenty left in the tank to really go for it on the final stretch. I noticed how slow my cadence is compared to others, especially people a bit shorter than me. 71st out of 237 and 9th in my age-category.
