That's great! Especially if they cater for new runners, and you can get advice..

Would leave the cake alone though...

Oh well done, that sounds ideal. I did try our local running club as my son wanted to go, but they are all athletic types who do sub 24 minute 5k's. My son was fine, I was not!!! I wish there was something local more at my level. Good luck and let us know how you got on..

oh well i hope they dont go that fast! I don't think they all do as some of them i see at the parkrun are not so fast. But the guy that always win's it in 16minutes odd goes to the running club too so maybe there are different abilities that go and cake.

If they do go faster than you, then clubs come back for you, so don't get left behind. If cakes what you want then there's plenty at Parkruns..

So i turned up last night at the running club and was greeted by the guy I had emailed to say i was interested, luckily I had spoken to him a couple of times at the local parkrun so was all very friendly and asked what i was doing and if I was ok about doing 10km of course i was, and he asked about what kind of time so he can pair me with something I suggested taking a bit easy today about 70-80 minutes. He said great I am not looking to push that hard today i shall run with you!

They did announcements and then introduced me to everyone (Very embarrassing) and and then off we went about 50 or so of us. We set off at a good pace which was fine as was down hill but I knew there was a long slow slug of a hill coming up we carried on at the same pace! he kept asking if this pace was ok of course i said yea its fine! By the time we got back to the club house I was done in! Nothing like a good pace run.

He admitted to me near the end that he just wanted to keep up with the people in front as he not done that course before and he didn't know where he was going and was a bit faster then he wanted to go!

But 10.4km in 55minutes isnt so bad!

But was all good fun and they even have a triathlon section, and do swim courses I need to be a better swimmer!

Here is my strava run :
