I had scan last week and was told I needed further treatment .I attended eye clinic yesterday for my usual injection in my right or so I thought .I was totally shocked to find I had developed WMD in my " good eye " this was my worst fear I now have WMD in both eyes ,for next few months I am to have 2 monthly injections in my right eye and monthly injections in my left eye .I am finding it hard to cope with this situation ,my only consultation is they appear to have caught it early in my left eye as I had no idea my "good " eye was infected .I would appreciate any advice from anyone in thus situation, thank you.

Hi Lizjim. I'm really sorry to hear that, I can understand how upset and shocked you feel. Unfortunately, that's the problem with wet AMD, if you have it in one eye it can affect the other eye eventually. You are, as you say, very lucky that they have caught it in the early stages and maybe you will get a good outcome from that. If you need someone to talk to about it, you can always ring the Macular Society helpline which I've entered below. Good luck and I hope everything works out well for you. xx

Sorry to hear that Lizjim. It's no consolation I know but I have been having injections in both eyes for 7 years this month. I am still on 6-weekly injections but I still have vision and still drive etc. So the cost is worth the reward.
There is a lot of research taking place at the moment, mostly in the States from what I can make out, but I hope that in the not too distant future we will have options for much longer lasting injections.
If you want to chat send me a personal message and I will send you my phone number. All the best.
Hi Seamus1. Your reply came to me not Lizjim. You have to click the reply box under Lizjim's post. x
Don't worry, I have gone through the same as you. My right eye was the first to be diagnosed with WMD, then , about a year later my optician scanned my eyes, and there was a leak in the left eye. That was 3 plus years ago and have been having jabs in both eyes, now on 3 monthly visits. Try and be positive and you will find things will pan out good. Best of luck
I too now have injections in both eyes after having one treated nearly three years. What can I say, it’s not the best news but after a year now used to it. Good news is because Eyelea works well I may soon have treatment every 10 or 12 weeks. They were keeping an eye on right eye which had dry AMD but changed quite quickly. You’ll be having the monthly ‘loading injection ‘ for three months then should have both together. Never really get used to injections but as my mother used to say ‘there are worse things at sea!’ She was right but doesn’t stop me being moody snappy and agitated in the run up! Good luck.
Thank you I am trying to stay positive ,do they do both injections on same day ?They don't really bother me ,apart from first time when I was terrified ,now I take them in my stride never really find them painful ,but didn't expect to get both on same day .
Dear lizjim. My worst nightmare too. No wonder you are finding it hard to cope. I wish I had some advice that would help but can only wish you the best and hope any sight loss is very limited. Fingers crossed.
