I wonder if you can help; I have just been told I have macular degeneration by my opt.
The Opt said she felt sure I have dry in my left and possible wet in my right eye. The problem is; I have wavy lines on the amsler grid with both eyes. Is it just wet that causes distortion? My appointment with the eye hospital isnt until next Thursday when I will have a scan.
Kind Regards
Esmee

Hi esme, sending you a hug X diagnosis is always a shock.
I believe both can cause distortion (along with other conditions such as I have).
You are being seen for your scan in a timely manner which is good.
I was referred by my optician too with suspected wetmd which I was grateful for but my scan showed I had a different condition so don't be surprised or worried if the hospital advise a different diagnosis - that's what the extra scan/tests are for and either way it means you'll get the right advice and treatment.
Best wishes going forwards.
Ps, we've just started some "Helpful Stuff " posts based on our own experiences to share with new members and I've just done one about what questions to ask at your appt. - hopefully it might be useful for you!
Hi Esmee1335. I have wet AMD in my left eye. I don't get wavy lines but sometimes, whilst looking at the television or looking out of the window etc I get what the Opthalmologist called humps. It's like looking at a straight line with what looks like little hump back bridges every now and then. It happens when the macula starts to leak fluid. I hope your scan goes well. x
