Eyelea injection

I recently had the first eyelea injection. I have weeping sticky eyes for nearly four weeks. Also itchy which makes me think of allergy. Has anyone else had this eye injection????

I think if you have any troubling eye condition after a few days after an injection, you should check back with the clinic that gave you the injection.

Thankyou. my next appointment is tomorrow. I wondered if anyone else had similar problems or was it just me. Apparently not. I have been getting eye injections for over a year with a different drug and never had any problems. As it is over an hour by car to the clinic. I did not want the long 2 to 3 hour trip to be told I couldn't have the injection and would have to come back in a week. Will ring today to find out. I am blind in my right now [wet ND untreated] so I try to keep my left eye good enough so I can at least get around the house and remain independent.

Yes I agree except the clinic is 2 to 3 hrs away through heavy traffic and I can't drive any more. Have to get someone to take me so I tend to just hope for the best.

Your telephone call did not elucidate anything?

No telephone call an actual visit. If you phone the receptionist will only make an appointment and not put you through to anyone who could possibly help. no, I got no real diagnosis on the cause of the gooey gritty discharge. Just that it may be BLEPHERITIS. They will not do injections for 2 weeks after any infection, real or otherwise. I really do not feel it is an infection, more an allergy.

Oh dear, if they don't know ... Part of my eye gets so sore at times, I think after using hypromellose drops (too?) often, so sore that for about a minute it hurts too much to open the eye. A little gentle rub and patience and it's OK again. I told the ophthalmologist I saw at MREH, and got a prescription for Hylo Forte – no explanation of what the trouble was.

Isn't it amazing how hard it is to get answers to questions. My eye's are getting better, so hopefully I will get the injection next week. Good to know about Hylo Forte, will make a few enquiries.

When I looked it up, Hylo Forte didn't get the best of the reviews of the more intense lubrication drips. I've only been trying it a week, but I don't seem to be having so much soreness with it. I'm still wondering though if there isn't something a bit more oily that's good and safe to use.

The clinic gives me a sealed foil packet of eye drops. Sight so poor I cannot read the name bot I do know they are a gel. I use them because I was told to. Oh dear, doesn't say much for my reasoning ability does it.

Hi

After the first injection I had gummed up eyes and had to pick off the thick gunge. Now I ask the doctor to wash out the eye carefully after an injection If they do this then I do not have gunge but if they do not wash out the eye enough the eye is sore and gungy I think that you should have gone to the emergency eye clinic as your sticky eyes persisted for so long How about taking a selfie and showing the doctor before your next injection

I have found the source of my problem. Believe it or not it is actually the eye drops the clinic gives me. I am allergic to them. After they wash my eye after the injection they apply eye drops and give you a sealed alfoil pack of drops and tell you to apply them every 2 to 3 hours or if your eyes have some discomfort. I of course compounded the problem by doing so. Have just had my second eyelea injection, no eye drops and everything is fine. The name of the drops were Celluvisc. if anyone else has had the sticky sore matted eyelashes it may be eye drops. Didn't know you could get such a bad reaction to eye drops.

You poor thing, what a depressing way to start your injections, you must be dreading the next appointment, but it shouldn't be like that. Like Firebrake I've found that having the eye very thoroughly washed out after injections does make a difference (I always ask for this) but again it can be rather the luck of the draw. I have both eyes injected with Eylea at the same time and can have pretty unpleasant after effects with one but not the other, but only for a day or so at most. In your case and with such a lengthy period of discomfort I would get back to the clinic as soon as possible and do mention it at your next appointment.

Very best of luck.

Been back to clinic and they would not do the injection. They thought it could have been Blepheritis but I showed no other symptoms than sticky eyes.

It could be an infection often derived from your eyelashes. I would suggest that a call to the Specialist Nurse is the best way forward.

Yes I know someone who had this problem, a GP as it happens. If it is an infection then usually it will respond to antibiotics.

thankyou. I am so glad I found this site. I rarely go out because of very poor sight but now feel other people are there who understand. Just people I can get help from and encouragement. Thanks again.

Well I have been to the clinic and they would not do the injection. Long way there and back for just advice. The optomologist thought it could be Blepheritis although I had no swollen eyelids no redness no pain just thick sticky gritty discharge with itchy eyes. On antibiotics and Chlorsig eye drops now and go back in 2 weeks.

Well no injection. I have to go back in 2 weeks. I am on antibiotics and Chlorsig eye drops. 2 hour drive to clinic. Waited 2 hrs to be seen. 2 hour drive home. Long boring day just for advice. I hope it will be all ok then.
