I used the self check in at the entrance to Moorfields yesterday - then followed the on screen instructions and sat in RTU watching other people going in front of me. The staff were so overloaded with the extra work of dealing with our temporary friends from St Georges that they didn't do the rigmarole of checking another system to see who'd checked in elsewhere.
Advice: Ignore the plea to check in downstairs and go as usual direct to your clinic - or do both to make sure and avoid being scolded for not using the new system!

How annoying for you, yotboy! I had a similar experience at our local hospital. People were coming and going all the time while I was ignored. I had signed in correctly and sat in the right place. I kept asking at the desk what was going on. Had I been overlooked? They told me to be patient; they would call me when they were ready for me. One hour and a half later, with me getting quite on edge, they finally realised that I "had been overlooked", though I had to drag their admission to their error out of them.
If it takes too long, the chances are, something is amiss unless they inform us of any delays.
No -it doesn't annoy me these days. It 'cost' at most some 40 minutes, and surprising though it might seem I had nothing else planned for the afternoon except an injection!
I posted in an effort to stop others making the same mistake! I suspect I was subsequently shuffled 'up' the queue a little for the injection which was the fastest, slickest, ever. I hardly new it had happened and I was on my, happy as ever with the NHS at Moorfields.
Not QUITE the same, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I seem to have been last, or almost last on the operating list every time I've had an injection, (4 so far). Last time I was moved from one waiting area to another, which was disappointing as I'd been called for my injection. Fortunately 2nd. wait was not long as I had left my paper behind. Total waiting time 3 and a half hours; my husband was waiting outside with the dog. AFTER my injection which was fine, painless swift, I was then ushered back to the second waiting area and told "Someone will come and get you"....to take me back to the original waiting area where I'd collect my eye drops and discharge sheet.
No-one came and so I got up to walk back myself. I'd REALLY had enough of waiting. I was well, able, and wanted to go home. I got shouted at to "Sit down, someone's coming to get you....you can't leave on your own...you may walk into an operating theatre". Fair enough, but the door out was just round the corner. We'd come in that way; why didn't one of the nurses just go with me to the door. Very luckily for me a porter then wheeled someone out on a trolley with a nurse accompanying them, and I JUST LEFT with them. Obviously they'd have stopped me going in to an operating theatre, so I wasn't being irresponsible, and I ignored the nurses shouting for me to wait.
Has anyone else been prevented from leaving the hospital when they're fit and well, and the procedure had been done? (Macclesfield hospital). I've written (nicely) to customer services, and they're going to find out what was going on.
I'm also going to request if I can be further up the pecking order. I know someone has to be last on the "operating list", but why should it be me every time. I'll let you know what happens; and my sympathies to yotboy and ayayay
Similar thing happened to me at Watford General on my last appointment. So much for modernisation and new technology......paper and pencil are far better.
I always used to be last and wondered if the eye gods had it in for me, but somehow I now seem to get the first or second appointment early in the morning about 8.45am. Wonderful , I’m sitting with my hot chocolate awaiting pressures and kicking out by about 10 am . Fingers crossed the eye god dosent read this and chuck me to the back of the list again.
